The calendar definition of summer would make sense if September was one of the three warmest months based on weather statistics. But it isn't.

Meteorological summer (google it!) is defined as June, July and August, and those are the three warmest months. Some countries use it as their official definition of summer. Makes more sense than the church fiction we use.

I can also buy Labour Day as the end of summer. It just feels different after that.

    4 Summer Games

If anything this proves that people like Saturday Summer games, especially afternoon kickoffs.

The season started on June 13th this year. Starting it around Canada Day would mean starting it 2+ Weeks later. The Grey Cup is on November 24th this year. 2+ Weeks later would push the Grey Cup into mid December.

Do you really want our Championship game played in those less than ideal conditions? If you want to showcase the game you want the best field conditions possible.
As recently as 4-5 years ago the schedule started around Canada Day. The Grey Cup was not in December that year. The league added another week to the season so every team would have two bye weeks.

League attendance was much better when the season started around Canada Day 4-5 years ago.

Well since what you said is false I will definitely point that out. Where did I say that the schedule was moving earlier? I said that I don't think that they're going to stop trying for it.

Weak argument as that was a Playoff Game and the Argonauts marketed that game more than any other Argonaut game at BMO Field ever.

What were the highest 3 attended Regular Season Argonauts Games @ BMO Field? Hint none of them took place in cold weather.

How is it a weak argument when I have seen you point out small crowds for other teams playoff games and use the cold as an excuse? This will be my last post on the subject. League will never start during the NHL playoffs is all I will say. Again, sorry if it’s too cold for your group in November.

Correction: it's now a 21-week schedule with three bye weeks for all teams. Under the previous 20-week schedule, only one team had three byes, but that team also to play two games in a week to make it all fit.

In 2014 the season started on June 26th. The Grey Cup was November 30th.
In 2015 the season started on June 25th. The Grey Cup was November 29th.
In 2019 the season started on June 13th. The Grey Cup is November 24th.

So your hypothesis is that attendance is down because the season started 12 / 13 days earlier this year?

I already explained how it's a weak argument. You're comparing a playoff game to a regular season game and that particular playoff game had more promotion than any other Argonauts game at BMO Field ever.

This year's Stanley Cup playoffs ended on June 12th. The CFL regular season started on June 13th. The Stanley Cup Playoffs have gone later than June 13th in the past.

Partly, yes. If you can move 11 percent of the season to months where more people attend games, why wouldn't you?

Where are all the greatly attended games from mid-June to mid-August?

Which came to the church from pagans. The church adopted/adapted many pagan traditions to appeal to the masses. They used paganism to define summer, not science.

That's a real stretch, in fact, an outright lie.

    2017:
    June 25: 13,583 (Hamilton)
    June 30: 11,219 (BC)
August crowds that year were 11,616 (Calgary) and 16,326 (Montreal)
    Oct 7: 15,102 (Saskatchewan)
    Oct 21: 15,532 (Winnipeg)

So the October crowds were bigger than 3 of the 4 June and August crowds, and the only one bigger was the CNE game which the Argos always offer ticket deals on.

2016 and 2018 the Argos were really bad and late in the year when the team is out of the playoffs is a hard sell, period. If the team is in contention, late season games will sell.

But again, believe what you want.

**Edit...1 July game that year. Even with Doug Flutie bobblehead night, the crowd was 15,801 vs Ottawa so statistically speaking, summer games do not sell better than fall games.
**Additional edit (I guess I have too much time on my hands)

    2016:
5 dates in June/July and August (excluding first ever game at BMO as it was a one off) : Average Attendance of 15,230 (12373,16048,15063,15157,17509)
    3 dates in September/October: Average Attendance of 15,487 (17214,14224,15023)

    2017
    5 dates in June/July and August : Average Attendance of 13709 (13583,11219,11616,16326,15801)
    4 dates om September/October: Average Attendance of 14,169 (13182,12862,15532,15102)

    2018:
5 dates in June/July and August: Average attendance: 13,890 (16450,12196,10844,11857,18104)
    4 dates in September/October: Average Attendance of 14,611 (15702,14479,14184,14080)

For the record, The 6 lowest attended games since the move to BMO have all come prior to Labour Day and all in June or July.

I agree! Coming off a blowout on a short week after 3 straight road games i really feel this team can catch Calgary off guard on the 20th.

Good to see you back but I thought that you were done replying?

You seem to have misunderstood what I'm saying. Our best attended games took place in the months of June and August:

    June 23, 2016 Attendance 24,812
    August 31, 2016 Attendance 17,509
    August 19, 2017 Attendance 16,326

    June 23, 2018 Attendance 16, 450
    June 22, 2019 Attendance 16, 734

CFL attendance as a whole is way better from roughly the last week of August through the end of the regular season.

Again, Winnipeg, with an undefeated team and arguably the second-best fanbase in the league, couldn't break 26K on a Friday night in mid-July.

As AV pointed out, recent Argos attendance as a whole is actually better in the fall, even with crap teams in 2016 and 2018.

And the 2016 home opener has to be thrown out as that was the first game at BMO.
