    XFL Draft Day 1

Taking the next 2 days off work in order to follow the results of the draft. Wonder who Trestman will bring to the Sunshine State?

Recently released OL Wil Campbell will be given a chance to revive his football career in Tampa Bay as Marc Trestman drafted the big man with his final selection.

Front 7 prospects are up next tomorrow starting at 10 am.

Some interesting names on and off the field in the XFL recently. Lots of CFL connections. Listening to the radio lately via Dan Patrick and Fan550 Buffalo doesn’t sound promising though. With the recent failure of the AAF, not many Americans are giving this league a chance and seem even less interested then ever. Terrible timing combined with the bizarre strategy of playing in NFL cities and NFL stadiums guarantees failure, IMO. I don’t care what the financial backing is, when the season is near end and there’s 3000 or less people watching in a 60 000 seat stadium, no ones going to bother with year 2.

Anyone else worried that two Tampa natives, JWJ and SJ Green might be recruited by Trestman. I’m not sure any have a future here, both are FAs but an interesting thing to see. MBT may also get interest.

I’d expect GM Trestman to sign quite a few CFL players including some Argos from his time here. JWJ has been rumoured, we’ve talked about that in other threads (his family is waiting for such). At this point, he’s not much of a loss performance wise. If they offer starters money to MBT, Argos will likely not match. One of these years, we have to move on from SJ. His contributions this year are remarkable for someone showing noticeable signs of aging (speed).

It is noteworthy that Trestman drafted DB Picasso Nelson Jr. Most Argo fans recall his dad Picasso Sr was in Argos TC back in 1998.

Picasso's last words in Argoland surely were "Drink to me, drink to my health. You know I can't drink any more."
