    2019 Toronto Argonaut All Stars

Three Argos have been named to the 2019 East All Star team: S.J. Green, Derel Walker, and Cleyon Laing.

Green, 34, posted his seventh career 1,000-yard receiving season after hauling in 85 receptions (tied for sixth in the CFL) for 1,039 yards and four touchdowns in 18 games. The 13-year CFL veteran moved up 13 places on the CFL’s career receiving yardage list from 28th and now sits 15th all-time in career receiving yards (10,222). The Florida native’s 716 career receptions is good for 12th all-time in CFL history. This is Green’s eighth time being honoured as an East Division All-Star (’11-’15 with Montreal, ’17-19’ with Toronto).

Walker, 28, led Toronto in receiving yards this season by bringing in 65 passes for 1,040 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games, good for a 16-yard/catch average. The Texas native had 10 receptions of 30+ yards, which was tied for third best in the CFL this season. His 203 yards vs Hamilton in the Labour Day Classic was the second highest receiving output in the league this year and included a 96-yard touchdown catch and run. This is Walker’s fourth Division All-Star nod after three with Edmonton (’15-’16, ’18).

Laing, 28, led the Argos in sacks this season with seven (tied for eighth best total in the league) and only two other primarily interior defensive lineman had more sacks in 2019. The Edmonton native added 27 defensive tackles and one fumble recovery. This is Laing’s fourth time capturing an East Division All-Star nod (’15, ’17-’19).

All three are well deserved selections. If the four Ti-Cat All-Stars that the Argos let go, were still with us, we could have 7 selected.

Interesting to note that with the 4 teams in today's semi-finals, two are led by QB's originally signed by the Argos. It appears we can develop QB's but don't bother to keep them.

The above statements area bit tongue in cheek but not without some truth.

Argos have done a masterful job in filling other teams needs.
