I suspect any HC would want a player that they know and trust at such a key position especially when coaching a new team, explains Dinwiddie’s interest in Arbuckle as well.

Wishing James Wilder Jr. all the best. Will always be thankful to him for his efforts to get the Argos to the 2017 Grey Cup.

Yep, but after 2017 he seemed to put in little effort. Seemed like last year he was saving himself for an XFL or wrestling career. Guess it didn't work out.

Pipkin has been released by the Alouettes, I wouldn't mind seeing Murphy bring him in for a TC spot.

That’s the thing about being grateful. Without conditions. Same with Marc Trestman. Grateful he provided the environment for the team to push all the way in 2017.

He never lived up to his MOP potential, but I agree -- he deserves our gratitude for 2017. His emergence down the stretch that year gave the team a winning vibe it had lacked, and his catch in the Eastern Final is one of the most important plays an Argonaut has made in the past decade.

I wouldn't, either, altho it depends to a great extent on who else we have battling for a roster spot at QB.

Agreed - i think he has some excellent potential; the same thing I still said about Vernon Adams after a couple of seasons in the CFL (and he hadn't done much). The Als kept that stiff Shiltz over Pipkin = bizarre IMO, but i guess Khari knows what he's doing with QBs or else it was mostly about money and they are into cutting $$$s there now?

Be very interesting to see if the Als continue to carry/develop Hugo Richard on their roster - he was on the PR most of last year and dressed when Adams was out with the suspension. Maciocia should certainly know about Richard's QB skills from seeing them up close often - something other CFL gob/"scouts" would not have.

I’m very surprised. I think this shows how low the XFL is really paying. I guess playing in Canada isn’t so bad after all! Wilder may very well still keep one eye on wrestling, which is not good for the Alouettes. It will be so interesting watching how he performs next year. I get the impression Wilder played his way off the Argos last year, certainly off that contract.

I too like Pipkin but I wouldn’t want him in front of O’Connor.

I can see Winnipeg trying to sign Pipkin if they lose Streveler. Similar type players.

The Argos have signed WR Keyarris Garret, who had previous tryouts with the Tiger Cats, NFL, XFL and AFL. He led the NCAA in receiving yards in 2015.

Garrett, 27, most recently spent time with the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL after spending parts of 2019 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the offseason and the Baltimore Brigade of the Arena Football League. The 6’4, 221-pound WR signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May 2016 and spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad and was released in September of 2017.

The Texas native spent five seasons, including a medical redshirt season, at the University of Tulsa (2011-2015) where during his senior year, Garrett led the NCAA in receiving yards with 1,588, finished eighth in receptions with 96 and added eight touchdowns in 13 games while being named First-Team All C-USA. In 46 career games for the Golden Hurricane, Garrett hauled in 219 receptions (third all-time in school history) for 3,209 yards (fourth) and 22 touchdowns (eighth).

Guaranteed he would be ahead of O'Connor on the Argo QB depth chart if they were able to sign him.

I'm really curious about Wilder because this past off season he has dropped considerable muscle mass from the pictures/videos etc i've seen. Maybe he's trying to lean out and be more explosive but I think you can do that without shedding all the mass.
