Note how much more "loaded" the headline for the Bomben/Argos article (written by Hodge) was compared to the stories written by Dunk about the Campbell, Posey and Orange releases.

Problem with Burks was though, he was rarely on the field. As for Bomben, was he still playing at a high level?

When he was on the field I thought he was more effective than Wilder.
The O-Line was awful last season so changes need to be made.

I expect the Argos to be very active in free agency, they also have a several high selections in the draft to address some needs (O-Line).

I seem to remember a lot of gloom as free agency approached in 2017. If I remember correctly we didn't finish the year too badly.

It wasn't just as free agency approached -- it was also after the main signing period ended IIRC. People thought we did terribly in free agency that year.

Bomben's departure isn't great (wasn't he also our backup center?), but I'm more concerned by the fact that neither McEwen nor Campbell has been extended yet. If McEwen does go, what's the plan at center? I don't see many guys out there. Couture, I guess. Anyone else?

On the bright side, cutting Bomben may be an indication that Richards will be ready to start this year.

It looks like they plan to rebuild the team the old fashion way, with a small but good
core and bring in quality players (this was how the stamps were rebuilt years ago).

A McEwen departure results in an unenviable scenario for Pinball and Murphy for sure.

I'm not sure that we can make a conclusion about Richards' prospects for 2020 based on Bomben's departure.

I'm sure a few of them want to test free agency, and after two 4-14 seasons I am unsure that I can necessarily blame them.

Pretty much every team spends right up to the cap. Except the Riders who have a habit of going over.

As for McEwen and Campbell, there was a story last week that they're looking at NFL possibilities. Not much the Argos can do while that's happening.

Not sure why Pipkin is so highly regarded on the forum. Great athlete but his accuracy is a huge issue. I would not rate him higher than O'Connor. If Nichols signs here coming off shoulder surgery, MBT is a must...he could beat out Nichols if given a chance.

I like having a change of pace quarterback on the roster, someone who can throw deep or have the threat of running. I liked how the Bombers used two QB's last year and hope that more teams duplicate this. I understand that starters probably hate it but I don't care, I think it creates headaches for defensive co-ordinators.
