    A breakdown of the receivers

If you don't know much about the receiving corps you're not alone.

    This should help.

    Enjoy!

Great read Hogie. Intrigued by the resumes of some of these guys.

Excellent break down. Wish they could all make the roster.

Put me down as a fan of Markus Howell. That's a terrific, detailed summary of what these guys might do for the team.

Thanks Mike - sounds like a very good & diverse group of receivers - should be great TC competition with some tough choices for the offensive coaches.

I like the idea of at least a couple of big-body, physical targets inside - Brescacin; Mayle sounds intriguing as does Anderson; Noel; and then some speed on the outside - Worthy or one of the new guys; maybe Brissett & Gittens (didn't set the all-time U Sports single season reception # by some fluke) fit in somewhere too.

I say it every year, but this group has some fine tape.

We seem well armed, especially if Jones or Walker get added.

I like that they've added arm length and size in the receivers core (and in the D-Backfield).

Whatever football we get this year will be brief: short camps and a reduced schedule. That should favour teams with a lot of personnel continuity, since they'll be "in sync" more quickly. The Argos have made a lot of promising changes, but I have a feeling they won't pay off until next year.

The Argos have signed some really exciting American wide receiver prospects for the upcoming year (if we have one). On this list, I'll be following two in particular:

.Kwadarrius Smith was ranked by 247 Sports as the 3rd faster college football player in 2018. He has a 4.37 40 time but his 60 time of 6.72 and his 10.29w 100 times are even more impressive. If he shows this type of speed up here, he could be one of the fastest players in the league.

.Kyle Lewis is probably the most versatile of all the receivers signed. He rushed for 1163 yards and caught passes for 1079 yards during his college career. At 6'0"" and 207 lbs he is both fast (in the 4.4 range) and strong. He is also a very good special teams player.

Now, if only we have a season so these two and the others can show us what they can do in this league.

Unfortunately they can't keep them all. Especially this year. We may see some of these guys on other teams after cut down.

On paper this could be the best crop of rookie and free agent receivers we've ever had. Hope we get to see them compete.

Everyone sounds great on paper, but we know that many great prospects turn out to be suspects when the on-field action starts. I sincerely hope we have found some new stars, and based on what we've been told about them, it seems probable that at least one or two of them will pan out. But realistically (and based to some extent on the large number of players competing for maybe 10 spots in total), some of them won't even survive to the end of camp, much less surface elsewhere in the CFL. (If there is a camp, of course.)

Once again, thanks Mike. Even without TJ Jones, the six Canadian receivers give them their best National depth and talent in a very long time and that list does not include Declan Cross who has been primarily used to catch passes, including 36 and 30 receptions in 2017 and 2018.
