I’m sad to see Gilchrist released. He was one of not too many bright spots on the 2019 D.
It's us vs the rest of the country

I was also somewhat surprised with the release of Gilchrest, as he seemed to impress last year. In Ackie, Kwemo, Lokombo, Shorthill and Cassar the team has 5 quality Canadian players who can play at the LB spot (assuming the team signs them). Perhaps the coaching staff feel at least 2 of that group will be starters next year.

Wonder if Lokombo will line-up at safety? - good there for the Als but still a very capable LB; Ackie a lock at Will OLB?; then Shorthill, Kwemo & Cassar all make the roster too as back-up and ST guys ? Kwemo & Cassar are big, natural MLB types - so maybe apprentice under a vet like Bear Woods, and one of them emerges as a starting MLB down the road?

The Argonauts continue to focus on extending/re-signing some of the US signings from last year. Good to see that some of these players will still get an opportunity.

Real drag - guy is a very talented corner and could have been part of a solid Argo D. Hoping Colquhon gets a real shot to start at corner - potential very good one IMO.

Were the Argos able to sign former third round and four year veteran DE Eli Harold under the same contract restriction that limited the Argos from signing Canadian TJ Jones for $200,000 a year or does that restriction on salary still hold?

The CFL and CFL Players’ Association are at odds regarding the free-agent deal the receiver signed last month with the Toronto Argonauts. Jones, a 27-year-old Winnipeg native, agreed to a contract reportedly worth $200,000 annually with the Argos on Feb. 14 after spending six seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions (2014-18) and New York Giants (2019).

But the collective bargaining agreement reached last year between the CFL and CFL Players’ Association limits Canadian rookies to earning no more than $80,000 annually on a three-year contract. According to a source, the league proposed an amendment to the CFLPA for consideration that was turned down.

So Jones, his agent Rob Fry and the Argos all remain in limbo.

The restriction on salaries applies only to national players. Harrold is an INT so could sign for whatever he can negotiate.

Seems probable he was asked to accept a pay cut from the deal he signed last January. We will likely see more of these retirement announcements. Some of them will be real and some will be attempts at bargaining leverage.

Campbell made the all-eastern team in 2019, but will be turning 34 in 2021.

No press release by the Argos on this.

Campbell’s greatest contribution to the Argonauts was getting burned by Devier Posey on the long TD pass from Ricky Ray in the 2017 Grey Cup.
I’d like to thank him for this and wish him well😁

I stopped short of using that line knowing I’d hear from your attorneys if I did.
On the advise of my attorney I will have no further comments on this matter.

Argos sign ex-NFL RB Ken Dixon; drafted by the Ravens and 2nd on the team in rushing as a rookie in 2016, after a very productive career at Louisiana Tech.

Joins Karlos Williams as another ex-NFL back to compete in TC = nice /should be interesting. Still like the potential of AJ Ouellette as well.

Maybe they could carry 2 import RBs? But like to see last year's draft pick Dion Pellerin (big 225 pound back) get a real shot at tailback too (though i bet he will be GOB relegated to fullback)

That would seem to leave the league wide open to a lawsuit or human rights tribunal action on the basis of discrimination against Canadians.
