Everyone should feel free to express an opinion on any issue, whether we agree or disagree with others. However let's do so without denigrating others.
”Get with the times old man!” It’s a saying that I’m starting to be on the receiving end. Anyway, don’t take everything I say so personal or literal. As we get older, we don’t like change. I’m guilty of it myself. Maybe there should be an alternative, but for various reasons there isn’t, and we can only adapt because digital is only going to become more prevalent. I’m also fully aware that when I am 70, I’ll be bitching about why I can’t enter games like I used to using my phone instead of these damn retinal scans. I stand by my reasoning that this isn’t an issue for the vast majority of the population. Society has almost made living impossible without a smartphone, which is too bad, but the truth.

Sure, it’s still an option, for now. Some airlines now charge extra to print at the airport. Soon, print at home will be the only alternative and if it’s already in your email, what’s the point? Gone though are the days of running down to the hotel business centre to print your boarding passes, thank goodness.

always print the boarding pass. always. Even if you are an avid phone early adopter and have it all set up on your phone.
    always. print. the. boarding. pass.

    (while you still can.)

because some day your phone's not going to work at the exact instant you need to show your boarding pass.

My thoughts exactly when it comes to a boarding pass. I never want to trust my phone for anything.....not even Argo tickets. I have written to them and no response about getting a printed ticket. I may have to buy a new phone by the end of this week, just to get in. This really sucks. Even then, I have received no instructions on how to have the tickets show up on a phone. This has been handled so poorly.

I know a little bit about airports, I have flown 1.3 million miles on Air Canada alone, and I work in the computer business writing iPhone software... and I'm still printing boarding passes whenever possible. There are enough things out of my control that can go wrong, I'd like to keep control of this one thing. Paper is still a great backup medium.

(I suppose there's a chance things have gotten a lot better in the past 18 months while I haven't been travelling, but I'd be very surprised.)

You can easily drop your phone and you are out of luck. Drop a paper ticket and it is still good !!

The essence of the issue, is still being ignored by MLSE. Yes, most will utilize their phones to download tickets. However, some can't or don't wish to. It's quite possible, some of those individuals will take a pass on purchasing tickets in the future. A "will call" an hour before kickoff solves that problem. If attendance at the games was not a serious issue, MLSE could argue there is no need to accommodate these fans. But attendance is a significant issue, so shouldn't MLSE be pulling out all the stops to get people into the stadium? Or, does MLSE really care?

I called today (Monday) and was told that they will accommodate me for the upcoming game, and they were looking into the issue, so that is a good sign. I told the resp that I need to buy a new phone before I can do the digital tickets and would need to do that this week, and that is when he mentioned the printed ticket option.

Or your flimsy piece of paper could blow away, 😆. I haven’t read a good excuse yet. Your phone could literally blow up and with some ID, the gate attendants can make everything fine. The psychological effects of being in control at a stressful airport make sense. If not, it’s more resistance to change.

As for tickets. It’s a barcode they scan on your phone. You could actually print it and use. It really isn’t complicated. Some features like being able to send your tickets to another person without meeting is actually quite beneficial.

This is where you are wrong. Printing the PDF is no longer an option according to my ticket rep. If you can still print these at home, I don't believe anyone would have a problem with it.

Looks like they're using Ticketmaster's new SafeTix system in the Argos app where the barcode changes every 15 seconds, so screen shots will no longer work.

    https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/16/ti...et-technology/

It's also using NFC tech in the ticket so - we'll see how well this works - supposedly you can just tap your phone on a reader at the gate.

Looks like your right as explained by Shayman. As I used the service last season, I was wondering what the difficulty/fuss was all about. Still pretty simple.

Honestly, who cares. People prefer paper over tech. People prefer Cash over Debit/Credit. People prefer having the same cell phone they’ve had for sometime.

Speaking of cash, BMO is cashless now. Credit or debit only.

I have everything I need to get into BMO and have a great time, but coming from a blue collar background, I completely understand why people would be pissed about these changes. There is a clear difference between cell phones and smart phones, and only one of them will get you into the game.

It doesn't help that Ontario and Canada in general are known for extremely inflated cell phone/smart phone rates...

And I'll have to buy a new phone if I want to go to the games, which sucks, and even then, I have no clue how to get the tickets on my phone. I called and was told that they would send instructions, but nothing so far. Eventually, I want to throw my cell phone away, never to have one again.

what is that horrible gift the Argos sent out??? I don't carry a purse !!!!! That is the most useless thing I have ever seen. I never carry anything into a game to begin with, so why would I need a purse to carry anything in?

I, for one appreciate the gift. I probably won't need it for games, but it will have its uses.

What on earth did you expect? Pinball to serve you beers in a suite at a game. Geez this is a team that hasn’t made money in 30 years. My Bills season tickets cost me $2k USD and all I get from them is my tickets. Be thankful we get anything above your tickets.
