A team official notified me that they were hoping to send an e-mail about tickets sometime today (Tuesday). His information has always been reliable in the past, so hopefully we see something today.

Email came in. Invoice adjusted for 7 games plus playoffs. Pay in full by September 15.

We have the same seats, presumably all other STs have too.

The e-mail outlining how to download mobile tickets was very clear and easily understood. However there was no mention how one would manage to get the tickets if one doesn't have a smart phone. There are some still in the dark ages with flip phones or blackberries. Though I still loving keep my blackberry, everyone else in the family has gone with the times so we utilized one of their phones.

But there may well be some who aren't in that situation, so what do they do? Hamilton apparently allows ticket pick ups with appropriate identification, from the box office before the game. It might be a good idea if the team followed Hamilton's lead.

I'm 62 & I was living even farther back in the dark ages since I've never had a cell phone of any type until 6 weeks ago. My sister gave me her Samsung Galaxy S3 that she recently replaced. I incorrectly assumed that any app could be downloaded to any smartphone. Apparently, my phone only has Android 4.4.2 & I need Android 5.0 or higher to download the app. I hope the Argos will give me paper tickets for at least the first 2 games.

I have a smartphone and have had one for a long time. I don't think going completely digital and cashless is a good idea, however.

I will never understand the logic behind making a product less accessible.

if I had to guess I'd say "cutting out the third party resale market, somehow" is part of the push to digital tickets.

note, I work for a popular maker of cell phones that I'm sure you've heard of. and I'm an early adopter - and even I think this is a dumb idea. Paper tickets should still be an option.

When I spoke to a past rep on the phone in 2020, I was told paper tickets would be an option, but got the feeling in talking to Rob Richardson this year via email, that it either isn't an option, or they are seriously trying to dissuade people from taking that option. Now, I may be wrong, but I think will call on game day may be an option to those that don't have cell phones. But, IMO, a major inconvenience. The issue I have is that not all people in my party have cell phones, so we will have to meet up prior to entering the stadium so that I can flash all the electronic tickets from my phone. Sure sucks if someone is running late.

Can't the ticket booth just print out your ticket for you?

With digital tickets, I wonder if that kills walk up ticket sales. They'll have to be able to give out paper tickets for those people, I would imagine.

Or does the definition of walk up sale change. People can purchase tickets on their phone while essentially making their way to the stadium.

It is difficult to understand why MLSE is making it difficult for some fans to access their tickets. Strange marketing strategy. A "will call" an hour before kickoff, could easily address the problem for those individuals who can't use a smart phone for tickets.

I suppose it is in the best interest of the owners of the team to sell as many smartphones as possible.

No cash allowed at BMO so I guess in that spirit no paper tickets.

Honestly guys, you sound like a bunch of 70 year olds, maybe some of you are. I’m in my 40’s now and don’t know a single person in my extended family (besides young kids) that doesn’t have a cell phone. This is the way things are going, it’s not even a big deal. You now board planes with your phones. Paper is dead. You can send tickets instantly, even by text, to someone in your party that isn’t arriving with you.

I try to avoid being confrontational on this thread but using the term "70 year olds" in a pejorative sense is both insensitive and smacking of ageism. Remember if you are lucky you too will be 70.

The point being made, was if some don't have a smart phone for whatever reason, surely a large organization like MLSE should attempt to accommodate them.

Everyone should feel free to express an opinion on any issue, whether we agree or disagree with others. However let's do so without denigrating others.

It's worth noting that the Argos had the nicest ticket packages in the league, by far, in recent years. But the move away from paper tickets has been coming for a few years. Other teams in other leagues did it before now. It's a cost saving, plain and simple. COVID just made it easier for every other team and league to come on board. That said, there definitely needs to be an easy alternative for those who do not have phones, regardless of whether they are 70 or not.

I have a smart phone and as I said, it has no effect on me. But some people don't believe in cell phones. Some people don't want to be gouged by these providers. I have no issue with them feeling that way. Bottom line, there should be an alternative.
