    Week 1 Game Thread - AARRGGOOSS at Stampeders - August 7, 2021

It's still surreal, but it's almost here!

Hard to preview anything until the Argos make their final cuts, but obvious storyline for the Argos is who is at QB. Arbuckle has been dealing with that hamstring issue for a few weeks now and Coach Dinwiddie is yet to commit to a starter for August 7.

Yes!!! We are in week one! I was on a road trip through Calgary last week and claimed the territory by wearing an Argos t-shirt...here's hoping!

Impossible to predict what we will see with no pre-season. Calgary has lost a few players, but the offence is not new. I’m honestly scared of a blow out and everyone making fun of the Argos big signings. Team could have really used some games.

Fear is a lack of faith my friend, I predict the Argos D to be the best in the league. After 2nd scrimmage the O looked great. Argos will shine in Playoffs and will win the Grey Cup!

I have a feeling both teams will have strong defences this year, and might be ahead of the offences at first; and both teams have question mark O-lines and maybe little commitment to a ground game? QBs getting harassed = therefore, a low scoring game ?

This is going to be a real puzzle trying to figure out this game, but I am looking forward to seeing what the Argos have got, win or lose. Been way too long since I've been able to cheer for my team.

Biggest question mark is the OL, QB and RB situation.

I agree and think the O will struggle moving the ball until adjustment are made due to not having enough time for plays to develop down field!

I like the idea of Charleston Hughes as a team captain. Sometimes in the last few years the Argos have not only appeared to lack enough talent but, also enough energy. Charleston brings that in spades.

The Argos have released injury statuses (as now required)

I'm worried about Nevis (hip); I'm uncertain if there is veteran experience inside if he's out so Calgary may try to run at the interior, although to counter that the Argos have Judge and Muamba so we'll see.

The good news, however, is that Arbuckle's name is NOT on this list.

At the risk of being captain obvious, I'm going to point out this game has huge implications.

New season, new team, new coaches, new management and most likely a new starting QB. A win COULD mean a chance at some badly-needed stability and would give the Argos confidence that would help for the nex two games against the former champions.

As a side note, the Argos have not played since I moved. I might have to warn my neighbours in advance that I get a little nuts for Argos games, and that if they hear yelling and swearing it's just me watching football.

I got the sense that Nevis will be out for awhile.

There wasn't much to report. Pinball and Dinwiddie talked about many of the players. Mostly they were full of praise, not surprisingly. The coach indicated he's a bit nervous about the o-line (which is probably true for all coaches in the league this year).

None, other than announcements will be made soon. One will be about radio broadcasts, apparently.

Do most of you fellows expect John White to be the Argos' starting RB?

    Radically Canadian!
