It's the start of the game. A late arriving crowd, much like Argo games. Most of the lower seats were filled by halftime and most of the empty seats were in the new upper tier. Consistently drawing 30 000 fans is unrealistic for TFC. The crowd yesterday, announced at 23 000+ was still larger than any last year.

Don't know if this is the right spot to put this... but I think it's now a bit of a shame that certain TFC fans are carrying such a disrespectful attitude. All I keep saying to anyone that mentions that it was TFC's stadium... is that the original agreement was to have this be a multiple purpose between the Argos/TFC/Soccer Canada/Rugby Canada....But this kind of attitude is just kinda ridiculous and starting to get out of hand...I guess this is the classiness you get from this specific group... making the rest of TFC fans look like jerks too...

Unfortunately you look at the behaviour of this jackass in the video and factor in the behaviour of the 2 meatheads a couple of weeks ago towards the female reporter and many associate this with most TFC fans which I would have to believe simply isn't the case.
Say what you want about Liewicke but he has really tried to make a splash with TFC since arriving and deserved better treatment than he received!
Would you want to bring your family to any game with this crap going on??

Personally I feel Leiweke is partly to blame for that incident. He knew this was happening but decided he would try to spin a positive PR photo op at halftime by bringing free beer over to the supporters participating. Not everyone can be bought with a pint.

You're probably right...he probably did try to settle things down a bit by doing that... put probably knew he was stepping into the fire as well. But you have to admit, he has done a lot to try to help TFC. Funny thing when you read some comments in the facebook event is that fans of the Ottawa Fury soccer club are supporting TFC fans... yet they share their stadium with the Redblacks... hypocritical much?

I think attempting to buy off these supporters with beer only emboldens them to keep trying to hold these "protests." I think if he does nothing then they simply die out.

'Black Saturday' a landmark day for Toronto FC

Fans withholding their love for 23 minutes might seem like a treasonous act, but it’s not—it’s merely a by-product of the modern sports era. Owners show loyalty to a certain point—that point usually being when they move the team to another city. Players are loyal, until they sign a free-agent deal with a rival club.

Everybody’s loyalty in pro sports is up for grabs, so why should we expect anything different from fans? Why should their love be unconditional, while owners and players are free to auction theirs off to the highest bidder? It’s a double standard.

The south-end blackout fans aren’t spoiled brats. They are simply making themselves heard and telling the owners that they plan to hold them accountable. We don’t see that nearly enough from sports fans in this city.

Saturday was your warning, MLSE. Live up to your promise. These supporters aren’t going to let you off the hook.

Maybe we should have a "Argos & TFC - Brothers at BMO" celebration next year... try to show a better attitude about this...
