Looks like Toronto FC is firing yet another head coach even though the team is actually having a decent season. What's going on with that organization, T-Bone?

EDIT: TFC is considering selling their star player Defoe for $11 million which would be a "bloody big deal".

Since Leiweke's announced departure, coincidently or not, the wheels have started to fall off for TFC. A string of losses sure put things in motion. Fighting between coach and manager had finally surfaced publicly. Jermain Defoe's desire to go home is now known. While TFC may be in a storm, the key people involved are sure making everything turn out like a perfect storm of destruction.

How this is all going to pan out is really interesting and quite surely, heartbreaking yet again for the fans. If Defoe leaves and losses keep mounting, missing the playoffs could trigger more downfall. Scary times. I hope T-Bone is doing ok.

No coincidence at all MLSE execs are wasting no time eradicating Leiweke's vision for this franchise, it's all about dollars and cents, with limited upside in revenue (ticket sales-merchandizing) to be gained when compared to the expense involved.
I hope T-Bone is ok as well but perhaps he is occupied in the Hammer today!!

I actually met T-Bone in the Hammer today. He was weeping uncontrollably and burning a Defoe jersey... A sad sight.

I was in Hamilton on Monday and the reports of my depression are greatly exaggerated. As a fan I find this situation frustrating but I don't think the firing of Nelsen is due to the fact that Leiweke is leaving. Remember Nelsen was brought in by Kevin Payne. Nelsen went from being a player on a Saturday to Head Coach that following Monday. Many of us thought it was a strange move back then and were even more surprised when Leiweke came in and kept him on. Leiweke also brought in Bezbatchenko as GM and Bezbatchenko appears to be behind Nelsen's exit.

The record shows that post World Cup TFC has been struggling despite holding on to a playoff spot. We have had injuries including Defoe which hasn't helped but this team should have a better record with the players we have and the game on Saturday was a joke. Bezbatchenko claims the decision to remove Nelsen was made before Saturdays post-game press conference so I can't help but wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes between the two and maybe that was the final straw.

As for Defoe wanting to leave, we really don't know what the reason is. It's possible with Leiweke leaving he has decided he is done. Perhaps he had issues with Nelsen, which could be part of why Nelsen was let go at this point in time. Or maybe Defoe just hasn't enjoyed his time in Toronto and wants to go home. There is no doubt that Defoe is a big part of why the stadium is full again and there has been a ton of merchandise sold with his name on it. Letting Defoe go now just after firing the coach would not look good at all but the reality is, he is injured and my not play for the rest of the season. Which leads to another question, if his injury requires surgery will he come back the same player he was? It's quite possible he will be transferred in January so they can get season ticket renewals out of the way while he is still a TFC player but will we get the money for him that was being offered now?

As a long time fan having yet another coaching change at this time of the season feels like deja vu. I personally would have liked to see Nelson finish the season considering we are in much better spot than we have been at this time of year in a long time. However we don't know all the details from behind the scenes. I am concerned if we don't make the playoffs and Defoe leaves that there might be a mass exodus at BMO Field. It's been nice to see the stands full again especially after last years abysmal season. Anyway, only time will tell how all this ends up playing out.

I would be surprised if Defoe returns. He is home, in England, possibly milking his injury. If he gets his operation and TFC misses the playoffs, that will be it. I really see the season imploding yet again, after so much promise. The fallout will for sure thin out the casual "Defoe" fans. It doesn't make sense to increase the stadium, with a mass exodus of fans. I wouldn't be surprised to see some part of the future construction on hold. The last 2 years prior, I had the lowest personal interest in this team. Monthly players coming and going, combined with the losses and NO goals, made it almost impossible to be a fan. If we head back there again, I don't know how much more the fans or myself can take it. Being a long time Argo fan, I know suffering and down times, but even once in a while they win a Grey Cup! Losing makes those seasons so much more special, but a TFC franchise career, now 8 years of downright ineptness, doesn't provide any good times to reminisce about.

Wow. I'm going to call it. Another season with out playoffs and another rebuild year ahead of us. How MLSE expects to fill the existing and new stands next season, I don't know. I have a feeling a lot of people will be walking away from the team if they don't make the post-season.

Some hard truth there. While I agree with with the machismo, "If you don't want to be here, get out / let's fight together until the end." talk, it's hard to take Leiweke seriously. He himself is voluntarily leaving the team prematurely. He was another big taking, salesman, who didn't deliver. Thanks for nothing. I'm quite upset at him.

I agree with you that Leiweke's "Let's fight together until the end." comment is comical considering he will be departing probably sooner than later but I don't blame him for leaving. It sounds like the Bell and Rogers jackasses on the MLSE board have driven him to leave. I also think he has delivered a lot more than those that came before him even though it may not work out in the end. I believe Leiweke actually did care about more than just financial success. My concern is with him leaving things may get even worse.
