This reminds me of ..Anthony Davis (Defoe)...a BUST....
Then Terry Metcalfe (Altidore).....
and back in the day, us Argofans were just as GIDDY about the signings, as the TFC fans are today....

Another good start TBone! I like that Altidore looks like he can bowl over defenders with his size. Such a contrast from Defoe but so far same result.

Too bad soccer is more like poker, a game. It's not a true sport I can follow. As I've mentioned before anyone can kick a ball or hit it with a cane or wheelchair. You need to be an athlete to play Football, lacrosse or hockey.
I guess that's why it's the most popular game in the world because it's easy to play and follow.
Anyone can kick a ball, so it's not a sport or you don't need to be an athlete? LOL! I played both soccer and hockey competitively most of my life. The sports are very similar, which is why many hockey players enjoy soccer in summer. Soccer requires way more endurance and athleticism. I was always in shape and constantly losing weight with all the running I did playing the wing in soccer, while hockey it was so easy to glide around and just sub off when tired or on shifts. Football, has positions that you would be pressed to call the players athletes, if you saw them walking down the street.
We were looking pretty rough in the first half but Vanney made some adjustments at half and things looked a lot better in the second. Altidore's first goal was gorgeous and the penalty kick was well taken. His size does make him look like a force to be reckoned with up front, I hope he keeps up the good work. A good start but a long season ahead, time will tell.

The Montreal Impact are getting big crowds. 33000 tonight and 38000 at a game a few weeks ago according to Herb Zurkowsky. MLS is on the rise in this country.
Those are "one off" games at Olympic Stadium which the Impact have been playing for several years now and where they have been drawing crowds of that size or larger. My understanding is that they have struggled somewhat to sell tickets at their home stadium where they play most of their games.
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
#IMFC attendance tonight is 33,675. Two weeks ago it was 38,104 against Pachuca.

The Impact have been starting their MLS season at Olympic Stadium for several years now but the matches Zurkowsky is referring to are CONCACAF Champions League matches.
Saputo disappointed in falling attendance, wants to bring "buzz" back to Impact
ArgoRavi posted this awhile back. I could see a NASL team in Regina before a MLS team.
They could install heating underneath the field like they have at BMO Field.
Looks like there are more posts on this website about "soccer" Than Argo/CFL football. Maybe this site should change it's name and content.
It's a second tier league that currently has two Canadian teams, FC Edmonton and Ottawa Fury FC.
