As someone that doesn't really follow soccer too closely, why isn't this game on TV locally? Are they having a tough time selling tickets?

I get the impression that these "friendlies" aren't too popular among TFC fans, especially the Red Patch Boys.

Why, hoping to watch? The TV listing for the Man City friendly was announced the day before. Until I can confirm the information I don't post it. They probably are having a tough time selling tickets for this match. Sunderland doesn't have a very big following here.

Mid-season friendlies are not popular among the majority of supporters not just members of the RPB. This friendly was part of the Defoe trade deal apparently.

I never understood this friendly thing. I couldn't imagine The Argos playing the Bills mid season. What if your star player gets seriously injured in a so called friendly? TFC fans would be pissed.

Exactly why we don't like them. With the EPL having a fall season start we will only see EPL teams here during our season because EPL teams don't generally play mid-season friendlies.

I doubt there will be much of a crowd there. Like I said before this friendly was part of the deal when we traded Judas, I mean Defoe to Sunderland. They wanted this. Either way I hope he gets the booing he deserves. I had no problem with him on the field but he did not act like a professional off the field. In the end I'm much happier with Giovinco and he appears to be happy here.

My guess is that because soccer is much like baseball, a non-contact sport, your able to engage in these types of exhibition games.

OH and they do have that "magic spray" that can instantly cure an injured player, (if applied immediately after a red card has been issued to the offender.)

    Hahahaha
