Argos Season Ticket Holder 2016-2021.
My gut tells me that article isn't written if the Ticats lost today.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
Do we get a Naylor/Lalji tweet with more rumor leading up to the EDF?
Not one new fact in the entire article. Yawn.
It's an opinion piece as indicated in the headline.
Agreed as other posters have noted, it's nothing new that we haven't read/heard before. It's just poorly timed.
If you are going to use an article to bash something Argos-related, it should be towards MLSE's handling of the team. Like you say, lots of anecdotes out there of a skeleton staff making things much difficult for aspiring fans than they really should be.
The idea that he takes shots at the team's on-field performance is arguably the most laughable part of a joke of an article. I can't remember all the details, mind you, because one click was more than it deserved.
This is the dumbest paragraph. He makes it seem like its embarrassing to have your top rusher with 450 yards, however doesn't understand they've been using two backs and is closer to 700 yards, which still isn't great but the Argos are in first place so who cares? And Collins actually played 12 games, and receptions leader Burnham has 67 catches in full 14 games. Weinke and White have 56 catches in 13 and 14 games played.Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson has been around for several seasons, but only took on the starting job this season when Nick Arbuckle was traded away in late October. The team’s top receiver, Ricky Collins Jr., had only 55 catches in 14 games, while running back John White led the club with only 450 yards rushing and is hurt and likely unavailable for the East Final. Leading tackler Dexter McCoil is also battling injuries.

Why miss a chance to knock the Argos heading into their first playoff game since the 2017 Grey Cup year.

He is and always was anti Argos and CFL, with his buddy Bob McCown.
However, it will be interesting to see how much advertising MLSE will do this week and ultimately how many people show up on Sunday?
How quickly we forget how Pro Argonauts Bob McCown was when David Cynamon and Howard Sokolowski owned the team.
As to Cox, isn't he an Argonauts season ticket holder? I seem to remember reading that somewhere. The article seems fair to me. I don't like it but sometimes the truth hurts.
Classic click-bate.

Accepting that this an old hobby horse of mine but why is there never media mention of MLSE looking to reduce losses by selling off TFC? The total salary costs are 3 to 4 times that of the Argos. The Canadian TV numbers are miniscule and this year their attendance has been even worse than the Argos.
MLSE could sell TFC to an American investor who could move the club to an American city. At the present inflated price (Forbes), MLSE could realize a huge profit on their investment and rid themselves of a money losing investment.
It has been rumoured that Rogers is looking to divest themselves of part or all of the Blue Jays to assist funding their buy out of Shaw. Perhaps the money from the sale of TFC could provide MLSE with the funds to purchase part or all of the Blue Jays. Owning the Blue Jays instead of TFC is a winner.
Just a thought.
MLS is all based on future value, which is fin, but the current value should reflect what it is. It’s so messed up, I can’t think of any sports franchise where the actual value is nothing near the listed value. TFC has the highest payroll and MLSE loses way more a year than the 12 million Cox says they do with the Argos. If they are in to cutting losses, TFC is the way to go. At least they can break even with their TSN interests on the Argos.
[QUOTE=ArgoGabe22;157076]https://www.thestar.com/sports/footb...IeF7KDGeC1r97IYes he is the worst. Although there a few others that like to give him a run for his money. I guess a real sports journalist would focus on a classic match up between bitter rivals which hasn't happened since 2013. He is just another bitter asshole, with an opinion. Nothing
GO ARGOS!!!
Because he has written so many negative articles about the CFL and more precisely the Argos, I now honestly think Damian Cox has a proposition bet with a bookie somewhere on the Argos folding. And it's not even that he doesn't make some valid points. It's just he never has anything good to say. Nothing about the quality of the product, how these very talented athletes put it all on the line for a working man's wage, the value proposition to being able to bring your whole family to a professional sports event for less money than a single Leafs ticket (in the nose-bleeds), the fact that the CFL is the only professional league that gets Americans to play a game on our terms, the history and tradition in the league... nothing. Since it is an "opinion" piece, he can say what he wants and doesn't have to present both sides of an issue normally expected in professional journalism, but as we all know, opinions are like ...holes. Everybody has one.
