We've seen it over and over again. Big U.S. college star comes to the CFL expecting to dominate, underestimates the style of game and quality of players up here, fails, and leaves, invariability with a bad attitude.
With Kelly, it will come down to his attitude whether he succeeds up here or not. If he is willing to learn, put in the time to study the offense and has a healthy grasp and respect of the rules and quality of player up here then he has IMO a great chance to succeed. He does have the skillset to be an excellent CFL QB.

What I am saying is there are a lot of variables. A QB might look bad in his limited time in pre season, but it could be because he is playing with a less than adequate line or receivers. Guys that might not make the team. Not all reps in pre season can be looked at as equal. The entire training camp will determine who wins jobs more so than limited time in pre season. Such is life with short camps. There is a reason they film every practice.

Two PS games means a lot of compromises have to happen. You can give your projected starters a chance to mesh with each other against whomever the opponent starts, or you can give the guys fighting for jobs a crack at playing the other team's starters, or you can throw your scrubs up against their scrubs -- but you can't really do all three of those things. Given that we know who many of our starters are going to be, I would prefer as much time as possible be given to the guys whose positions are not secure, including against the opponents' starters and not just their own marginal guys. I hope we see Pipkin, McDonald and Kelly all for at least two quarters and in different situations.

Although technically not a transaction but I found it noteworthy that the Argos added a productive former NFL DE by the name of David Irving to its Neg List.
Argos sign former Florida pass rushing standout Jachai Polite...

Another hugely talented athlete but unfortunately with poor work ethics and seemingly ill disciplined. If the threat of losing millions of NFL earnings can't motivate him, not sure anything can. Perhaps he will change but highly unlikely. A long shot but the team hasn't anything to lose by signing him.
Cut Travis Feeney as well ?
Argonauts sign DB D'Angelo Amos...

Amos joins his brother (and fellow DB) DaShawn on Toronto's offseason roster.
Don't get it either; maybe he will re-surface in the new USFL? Some more American players who might otherwise give the CFL a shot might take this route ? (we'll see if that league survives). Good reason IMO to increase Canadian content on CFL rosters - not that it will happen though.
I would love to see the league go back to 10 Canadian starters and add a rule to even out the amount on offence and defence, but I don't see the PA fighting for this, nor would the owners want to add a rule which would mean more high priced stating Canadians in the line-up.
