Not higher end players, that's for sure. Wouldn't surprise me if it worked like other American spring leagues where players make about 50K USD. Yes, we will likely lose some of the lower paid players in the CFL to that league, but if it's about money, then I don't believe the higher end players in the CFL would be leaving.

Since it's a spring league then players could play in both the CFL and the USFL, as some have done in the past, although that is hard on the body.

The USFL teams will initially play at the University of Alabama Birmingham, limiting local interest in their 'home' cities and give the league an ad hoc appearance that suggests it might not last.

The teams will eventually play in their home markets, but will initially play at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

I guess we will see, but the league does have a broadcast deal to show games on Fox, NBC and their affiliated channels. Doesn't necessarily mean riches for the players, but it's far better U.S. exposure than the CFL has.

AAF and XFL also had broadcast deals. It doesn’t mean they are getting any money from these deals. If they did, these other leagues would still be going because their salaries were really low. I don’t know how many more of these secondary pro leagues in the U.S. have to fail before people realize that Americans don’t care about secondary leagues.

The USFL is going to be around for two seasons guaranteed due to FOX's ownership. Will they pay $50,000 salaries in it's 1st season? No, but it will have an effect on the CFL for the next two years.

It will have no effect on established starters.

Version one of the XFL had the same thing and that died after a year, so there is almost certainly an out clause.
