We need the MBT from August to early October and not the MBT from the remainder of the season.
I would also suggest that in spite of what Dinwiddie's fascination with him might be that the Argos need to upgrade the #2 position. Antonio Pipkin ain't it.

I agree an upgrade at No. 2 would be advisable. Still hoping we sign O'Connor and give him a real crack at the backup spot. But I am thrilled that MBT is back in the fold. I believe he will continue on the upward trajectory he has shown since early in the 2019 season. Yes, there have been a few blips along the way, but other than Collaros (for a shortened season plus a few games in 2019), no QB in this league has avoided blips recently. MBT has what it takes to lead this team to a championship, IMO.

Not the news I wanted. Hopefully we sign/acquire a starter
A vet QB is a good thing perhaps; just not if he is anointed the starter without real good TC competition - we aren't talking Doug Flutie or Matt Dunigan in the fold here.
TC competition isn’t what it used to be. Projected starters barely play in pre season with only 2 games to play now, and you can’t go full speed in practice or scrimmage anymore. He will be the starter and deservedly so. The real competition you are looking for will be for the #2 spot. Those fighting for that will get the opportunity in pre season.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Great news, lock up the guy you know rather than going into free agency with no guarantee who you will end up with.
Now I hope they address the backup situation, I would also like to see O’Connor return in that capacity.

That might be quite well how things will go; and it may be how all CFL GOBs operate now; however, if you are trying to tell me that this thinking is some written in stone CFL law or rule now, and that an average QB talent who hasn't won anything should be handed the starter job without the possibility of being challenged in TC by any QB they might have brought in, well then ... wowzers.
The real wild card here was Reilly retiring because it all of a sudden put an additional team in the market for a QB. Masoli is from the west coast so speculation is that he'll go to Vancouver. The Lions have re-signed Whitehead and Burnham and made an offer to Kenny Lawler so they are investing a lot at receiver and they'll want a guy who can get them the ball. Masoli doesn't command the salary that he did 2-3 years ago.

It will be interesting to see what he ends up getting (if we are able to find out - Dunk seems to have a pretty solid pipeline on contract terms, FWIW). Some commentators have suggested Masoli can expect to get in the range of $400k. IMO there is no chance he gets that from BC, with all that money being spent elsewhere, and the plan to make Rourke ($80k salary) the starter. There is little chance of it in Edm, with $100k already spent on Arbuckle, but it's not out of the question. And there is some chance, but not a huge chance, in Ottawa, where IMO the smart play would be to develop Evans, find a solid but not too expensive experienced backup and build a good roster around him. I still think there is a chance (albeit a slim one) that JM ends up in Toronto as part of a tandem with MBT. But if it were to happen, JM won't be making $400k. I think those who are predicting that are misreading the market; guess we'll have a better idea who's right a week from now.

Good to see a proven starter return. Not sure why fans feel the Argos should have overpaid for Masoli, a guy who looked ordinary most of last season before losing his starting job.
Not surprising at all, as the Argos have become known for making poor QB decisions, still disappointing though. I was hoping Arbuckle or Maier would shake loose, but not completely sold on Masoli. Then again, with Dinwiddie's offence, I'm not expecting much excitement anyways, no matter who the QB is.
I think he is a warrior on the field and a great teammate who is capable of doing what it takes to win games and maybe even a championship. What I also want to see, is him be a mentor the "next one" and it is imperative that this organization finds "the next one". I really like Pipkin as a number 2 but don't see him as a potential long term starter and would rather see them put that into developing a younger QB.
What does Sunderland have to do with the statement I made ?
Oh right, because I wanted Sunderland here previously and he fell flat in his face in Edmonton, anything I say now will resort to you coming back with Sunderland. How long have you been waiting for me to come back to use that ?
