Wouldn’t a soccer pitch also suffice for a NFL field. Just saying…

They have already committed to renovations at BMO with temporary additional seating in the north and south ends.

You are going to get an NFL regular season game in BMO but not till 2025-2026 time frame. It would be a game not a team.

Anyone old enough to remember the Maple Leafs adamantly refusing ever to play at the new Air Canada Centre? It was a wild tale of intrigue. The way stadiums/arenas get built in TO.

I'm bracing for the renovations and the World Cup entirely as a disaster waiting to happen. Hundreds of millions spent to increase capacity to 40,000 for 5 soccer games, for it to never reach anywhere close to that capacity for TFC or the Argos. Meanwhile, we get stuck in delays, having to play more temporary home games at Guelph or Hamilton again. Hopefully when it's done we will at least have an entirely grass field, and not have to worry about half the end zones being turf anymore.

There's no question the World Cup will wreak havoc on our schedule in 2026. We can expect to go at least five weeks between true home games that summer, and will probably lose a game or two to other locations. Lions will face similar issues.

We don't necessarily have to lose any home games. Two of those weeks can be used for byes (we have two in the first five weeks this year), and they can backload August-October.

The expanded seating isn't expected to be permanent. Think more along the lines of the 2016 season with Grey Cup and NHL Classic.

There may be as few as 3 games at BMO Field. There won't be more than 5 from the reports I have seen.

Likely four or five. Rumours are out that Vancouver will be getting six, which would leave Toronto four.

Regardless of the number of games, each host city is required to stage a 34-day festival. You can be sure that the stadium will be off limits for that entire period and likely a couple of weeks before the event begins.

FIFA’s going to want the stadium to themselves for at least a couple of months, and probably all of Exhibition Place, and special dedicated lanes on the highways (like we had for the Pan Am Games), and - who knows, road closures on Lakeshore and/or the Gardiner for “security”, all so we can host the big Turkmenistan vs. Peru match.

Have you ever walked into a big fancy stadium and wondered, "who's paying for this place?"

This is so reminiscent of the Olympic carpetbaggers back in the Toronto cant miss nonsense attempting to secure billions of hard earned taxpayers dollars.
Then thankfully following this failure, they struck again to the tune of mega millions who actually know possibly a billion dollars wasted on the 2015 Pan Am corrupted games.

Here's a prediction of stadiums being unavailable for three months, May through July:

Last game is July 3. That’s week 4. Of course torontos 4 games will end mid june. Smallest stadiums normally only host group games first half of june. Cfl week 1 will start June 11 in 2006.

The only way this could possibly happen is if taxpayers get fleeced for billions of dollars. While that happens routinely in the U.S., I would suggest that it would be a death wish for any Canadian political party to enter into such a scheme.
