The eternal CFL challenge. It’s easy to get new people to come once, hard to get them to come back.

Whatever approach or strategy is employed it needs to be done consistently and in the case if our Argos I would say for a period of 5 years to overcome the decades of neglect. I was kind of hoping MLSE would be the owners to pull that off. Instead they want to change rules, and merge with other leagues instead fixing their own team first and joining the other dynamic leaders on other teams to strengthen the league.

MBT has shown determination, no quit, in his career to persevere to get to this point ti where he has been handed the keys to an offense. I respect him for that.
But what has always concerned me with him is I can't recall him playing a complete 60 minute game where he dominated all the way. Either slow start or slow finish, or like tonight nothing.

I salute the Argonaut D for keeping Rourke under 500 yards passing, good effort guys!

And under 700 yards total offence. If no one was expecting any of this from BC a few weeks ago, that has all changed. My prediction of an Eastern crossover to the West in the playoffs is already done 3 weeks into the season.

We will see how young Nathan manages with only 1 or 2 practices. Big test. Ottawa is much improved. May be the best team in the East.

Only the Bummers didn't have a pick before Rourke got selected at # 15; but the Bummers have zero interest in Canadian QBs anyways.

And the Bombers are a team run by CIS grads. Go figure.

Why? Because it is the Argo way to bounce back and win at home, where no one is going to give them a chance.

Better than our last outing in Vancouver, where our QB was smiling all happy go lucky coming off the field. At least MBT gives a crap. O-line got destroyed tonight, I can’t blame him for that.

That's not the way it works. You have to prove why Ottawa - who are 0-2 so far this season - is the best team in the East.

There's smaller QBs in the NFL now; Rourke could play there IMO, but he won't get a call.

I could see him getting a call but not a real chance to play. Doman will have to pony up Mike Reilly/Bo Levi Mitchell-type money to get him to stay in B.C. long-term.

It mostly works the other way -- the CFL player calls his agent, who then shops his player to NFL teams and sets up offseason workouts in hopes of getting his player signed. But let's slow that roll. It's only two games.

As for the Lions, I can't wait until the team lands in Vancouver to play the real game!

Yep, but long-time trained in CFL ways = puppets; why wasn't Miller and co. out-front putting a stop to any talk of 4 downs or other $ucking-up to American football rules or hooking up with a Mickey Mouse minor US league for the CFL ? Any answers to that question ?

That's not the way it works. You have to prove why Ottawa - who are 0-2 so far this season - is the best team in the East.

Indeed Ravi. My speculation is that the Rough Riders have put up good offensive yardage between the 20s against the best defence in the league, and likewise held the 2 time Grey Cup champs to few points defensively. They have excellent special teams as well. They should have won, at least one of those games, and were in both games until the end. Ottawa last year had they played Winnipeg would have been demoralized. Winnipeg would have been playing backups by the second half.

Winnipeg when they played Hamilton this past weekend (who are supposed to be the best team in the East again) - that game was never in doubt for Winnipeg. Against Ottawa their games were in doubt until the end.

The Argos unfortunately are lucky to be 1-1. Their injured list and the severity of it, and the repeat injured on that list, leave me to wonder whether we will ever see the true potential of this team. Ottawa's quarterbacking is better than Toronto's. I know MBT has supporters, but I have not seen him play wire to wire a great game yet. The kid in BC in almost 10 years younger and has put up 2 complete games already. I want him to be the guy, but he should have proven it by now. He has to take ownership of this team and run with it without anymore tantrums on the sidelines, and getting in cameramen's grills - not a good look. Say what you want, but Ricky Ray, Doug Flutie, Damon Allen, Condredge Holloway never pulled any of that stuff. If he wants to be among the greats he has to start acting like it and playing like it.

Good idea. The game was a complete disaster. Flush it and move on.

In 44 games in the CFL since 2018 FB David Mackie has never rushed the football although he has some pass catches. So far he has 16 carries for 90 yards and 5.9 yard average and a TD, even though he with a fumble. The question is why have they never used him as a RB. Uh, he's Canadian. He is not going to become their feature back but they need to put a running package in for this 252 lb behemoth.

And after that 100 plus yards from scrimmage game where he ran like a runaway truck, Mackie gets rewarded with zero touches the next game - as I predicted.

The rookie import receiver who got handed Burnham's job sure was a force with one catch and a drop though.
