I would have a huge problem with it. IMO Richards is not even close to capable of starting at tackle (or any other position). I wish I felt differently, because I had very high hopes for him. But I'm not seeing anything on the field that supports the notion he's ready. Churchill needs to get back to the team ASAP. And we need to find at least one INT who is better than Tate.

That is what I'm afraid of. What has Barker done this year to benefit the team? Apart from MacFadden and to a lesser extent Priester, have any of our new recruits shown anything? And yet we discarded several proven vets whom other teams were quite happy to snap up. IMO Pinball would be a better choice as interim HC, but I doubt he would want the job.

Richards can’t be any worse than Tate. Not sure what injury Giffen is fighting but I had high hopes for him when he was drafted.

Sheldon is looking pretty decent at MLB for the EE; but you wanted the Argos to keep him over Muamba? ; or as a back-up MLB (when they have Cassar) or as a ST guy?

I think the OT jobs are pencilled-in for Americans only by Dinwiddie and his coaching thinkers ?

OV has hit on a point here. Most of us believed that there was great competition for roster spots in training camp and knew that, as a result, the Argos would have to release some good players that would help other teams. We can't really complain about that now. If this season goes sideways, then we can complain about their choices but they are 1-1 right now so it's a little early for that.

McFadden and Priester have connections to Fields.

I hope Barker has not been involved too closely beyond consultation.

I think they would be happy to start another Canadian or two along the offensive line and have some terrific prospects that are perhaps just a little too green at this point. Having said that, Giffen and Churchill may not be that far away though. Can either of them play tackle?

Churchill's son was born in mid-June, but there is no indication when he will return to the team.

Sheldon was released but two other INT LBs were kept ad backups and special teamers. Are either of them as useful as a starting-calibre MLB? I guess time will tell. Same thing happened in the secondary (Collins and Decoud), receiver (Worthy), QB (Pipkin) and OT (Ivey). Cut veterans (all but Ivey proven commodities) in favour of players who have yet to show enough to justify a roster spot. Do teams trying to win a championship do that?

He definitely suggested he will be back soon. But even when he returns he is going to need a few weeks to get into game shape. And as good a prospect as he is, I don't think we should assume he can step into a starting job after missing so much time.

Both Decoud and Collins made key plays in Edmonton’s win over Hamilton last night.

So did Sheldon (who would have been only a special teamer here, but still). And Ivey looked strong at RT.

Can we please hit the breaks on Sheldon? He had all of 3 tackles last night and his pick was a gift from a RB afraid to get hit as he was trying to catch the ball. Anyone that was starting in his spot would have made that pick. Colling TD was also a gift. He just happened to be where the ball was after the other safety punched it out. I really like Collins, but he hasn't done anything for the Elks thus far. Elks D-line was dominant last night (or the Cats O-line really sucked).
