    Xfl 3.0

I figured since the USFL has ended its season, time to start researching the XFL now that it is on the cusp of relaunch. Here is some info that will introduce forum members to some of the league’s high profile names attending.

A couple weeks ago there was a Combine in Hawaii, former CFL QBs Cole McDonald and Bryant Moniz attended. Other recognizable names listed to attend future tryouts include fomer Hamilton Ti-Cats QBs David Watford and Canadian Graham Kelly out of Mount Allison.

So that's where Cole McDonald is heading off to instead of returning for a second season with the Argos.

XFL News Hub is reporting that…and no big surprise….QB Cardale Jones is “Teasing” his return to pro football. I predicted this after Chris Jones released him early in TC.

Yes folks, the XFL has a QB problem.

XFL backup QB Taylor Heineke started for Washington on this day and they defeated A Aron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

Taylor Cornelius was pretty much the starter for Tampa Bay in the XFL and is progressing nicely with Edmonton but the QB talent was a little thin in that league for sure.

I know there are a lot of skeptics here (and elsewhere in Canada) about the new XFL, but their video announcing the teams is pretty slick, not surprisingly.

XFL 3.0 is holding its draft November 16-17, which just happens to coincide with Grey Cup week. From what I understand 8 young QBs have already been assigned to each team with 56 rounds of picks to follow.

Wonder if any pending free agents on the two Grey Cup teams will be drafted. If so, that could throw a bit of a bomb into Grey Cup wek.

What's the pay like? I suspect that this league, much like the USFL, will have more of an impact on recruiting new players into the CFL as opposed to losing existing veterans.

Players who are under contract with other professional leagues could enter the XFL “Supplimental Draft” which will be held in early 2023. I am going to do my best not to be distracted by the XFL Draft during Grey Cup week.

I agree, but the bigger question is how long will it survive, considering how many spring leagues have come and gone recently.

I don't think the Argos will be moving on from MBT in free agency but I sure hope someone like Chad Kelly doesn't lose patience and is tempted by the XFL.

I assume Kelly signed more than a one-year contract, but if he's heading to free agency, I think there's a very good chance he will look to the XFL as an option, even if MBT were to retire.

Justin Dunk broke down Kellys contract a while back. The Argos are paying him very well, although I can’t recall all the specifics, it is considerably more than the $59,000.00 + that the XFL is offering.

And I believe that Kelly is signed through at least next season as a newcomer to the CFL.

Ex Argo and Edmonton WR Martavious Bryant was drafted 5th over today by the venue less Vegas Vipers.
