The San Antonio Brahmas have named Jack Coan as the team’s starting QB after beating out Jawon Pass and Reid Sinnet.

He must have had a good camp. Wonder if the competition was real or if he was just pencilled in as the starter.

To make room for Sankey the Renegades have released former Blue Bomber LB Nick Temple.

Tough 2nd half for Vegas QB Luis Perez with 2 pick 6s in a 22-20 loss to Arlington on the road.

Good luck to Orlando with that. Lynch, from all accounts, was horrible in the USFL last year with Michigan. I believe he backed up or alternated with recent Saskatchewan Roughrider signing Shea Patterson.

Actually Patterson was released by Michigan half way through the season due to ineffective play. To see him return to the CFL after failing in the USFL really concerns me regarding the quality of QBs available.

Oh, I didn't realize that he had been cut loose by the USFL. I don't see a lot of great quarterbacking in either the USFL (save for MBT) or XFL, so this would be concerning.

I subjected myself to watch the Seattle Sea Dragon/St Louis Battlehawks game in its entirety Thursday night. When you read articles on the game describing it as an exciting “Come from behind victory “, believe me, that is fiction.

That's all I read after last weekend's St Louis victory. It was an absolute crap game for 58 minutes with a wild finish. TV ratings were considerably down from week 1 in 2020 which doesn't bode well as traditionally (this being the 3rd time) ratings get worse with each week. I wonder how Dwayne "jumped the shark" Johnson has invested of his own money.

TV ratings are a fraction of what they were at the beginning of the second XFL reboot and attendance has also shrunk. I doubt that both the XFL and USFL last together for any length of time and I suspect that the USFL will outlast the XFL. Not enough people are buying what The Rock is cooking.

A steady downpour marred the Vegas Vipers home opener vs DC tonight as the Defenders were victorious 18-6.

Interesting to note that Vegas HC Rod Woodson pulled starting QB Luis Perez despite Perez operating its only TD drive of the game.

I believe that TD drive was all of 2 yards.

Argo draft pick Sage Doxtator is looking solid at LT for Houston (which looks like the class of the XFL early), as they take on a Renegades team in Houston tonight. Cole McDonald is the short yardage QB.

Earlier today as I slept, San Antonio defeated Orlando 30-12 in the Sunshine State.

QB stats in both games were not very good yesterday. In the late game, both teams completed exactly 50% of their passes. Maybe good for the 1970’s but not in 2023.

The first game saw both teams combined for about 260 yards passing. Orlando back up QB Deondre Francois (out of Florida state) completed 6/13 for 8 yards. The 0.6 yards per attempt might be the worst I have seen at any level of football ever.

Its odd. I read a lot of articles on XFL 3.0, IMO they seem biased. I watch games and see the stats you mention, yet all I read is how great the games are. Seems like no one wants to upset The Rock. If I saw a CFL game with those stats, and forum members know, I love the CFL, I would be inclined to call that game a stinker.

On Twitter, XFL fans are parroting much of what I recall seeing from AAF fans in 2019. The XFL has as bright of a future as the AAF, in my opinion.

All depends how much Redbird capital is willing to lose I suppose. I'm sure the Rock hasn't invested much of his own money into it. They are just hoping his name will bring in an audience.
