When the dislike for MBT goes beyond the pale

Did guys like Jay Barker, Jimmy Kemp, Gilbert Renfroe, John Congemi or Rickey Foggie take that much flak from the fanbase? Because their play at times was worse than what we've seen from MBT in 2022.

But it's not stupid... it's ignorant. As much as his play can sometimes frustrate me, I have nothing but respect for MBT's passion for the game, tenacity, determination, perseverence and resilience. By all accounts a great teammate and a good man. It really sucks that he should have to hear stuff like that from anyone, let alone fans of the team.

I’ve heard a l lot of know nothings in my section yell stupid things toward MBT, but never heard racial slurs. Guessing it’s because his life partner is a black woman. I hope if anyone hears this garbage they do their best to shame the culprits at the game. We do not need “fans” like this.

It hasn't been made clear what the comments were, but this seems plausible.

I agree that we do not need "fans" like this.

What impression is made on the 15-year old who attended the game? Not a great one.

Speaking of Jimmy Kemp, his CFL career ended when the team refused to pay him $15,000.00 in moving expenses. A buddy of mine at the time had STs in the end zone at Skydome. His replacement (not sure who that would have been off the top of my head) was so bad that his section considered taking up a collection to pay for Kemp’s moving expenses.

Since becoming a die hard Argo fan in 1980, I would rate MBT as #5 out of all the QBs who donned the Coveted Double Blue jersey during those 41 seasons.

Kemp was effectively replaced in 2002 by a number of QBs including Stanley Jackson, Michael Bishop, Marcus Brady, Jim Ballard, David Rivers, and Reggie Slack.

I am guessing that the four QBs ahead of MBT are Condredge Holloway, Doug Flutie, Damon Allen, and Ricky Ray.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

Ravi as always very intuitive. I recall Reggie Slack getting the call to help the Argos down the stretch in 2002 and he did an admirable job, especially for a guy with no knees. Thanks for jogging my memory.

Yes, I did rank those 4 QBs ahead of MBT, excluding Trevor Harris and Zac Collaros simply because of the success they have had with other teams after leaving Toronto. I guess Kerwin Bell is just behind MacLeod along with one of my all time favourites Joe Barnes.

Well McLeod Bethel-Thompson now has a Grey Cup ring unlike many of the more beloved Argo QBs over the last seventy years.

    Radically Canadian!
