    Rock meeting with Larry Tannenbaum

Rod Pedersen reporting he has 2 sources saying Rock is meeting Larry Tannenbaum this week while in Toronto. He says this is a good chance MLSE drops Argos in the cfl and joins the xfl. Would not be a cfl xfl merger he said just mlse getting into xfl and out of cfl.

I think Rod is looking for attention. Argos need to stay in BMO and evicting them will be a disgrace. XFL attendance will be less than the Argos so this is suicide, if true

My feeling is something has to give this winter you cannot continue to have such disinterested ownership as MLSE has turned out to be its more than obvious they want to be in an American league and don't care about a Canadian product. Now I don't know if Ambrosie can find an alternative ownership group or not for the club but mlse running it into the ground like they have cannot continue as it feels like they are sabotaging the team.

Rod has been beating this drum for a while and it's no surprise that he has latched onto The Rock making an appearance at the Leafs home opener last night meaning something nefarious for the Argos. If there is any truth to what he is reporting, it would be extremely disappointing to see.

I thought the Rock was in Toronto due to a movie of his at the TIFF? I think Rod is reaching. Larry and the rest of MLSE should be working diligently to get TFC back to league prominence in the MLS.

Well, not TIFF - that was last month - but he was primarily here on a press tour for his new movie Black Adam that's just coming out. I believe he's in New York now.

I hate to think this but an XFL team backed by MLSE and The Rock in some way would have tremendous novelty value here in Toronto and would probably draw big crowds, at first. At first. Is it sustainable? That, I don't know. CFL teams in the US drew good crowds, at first, too.

I agree MLSE has clearly thrown in the towel.

And another thing, the Rock being at the Leaf game and possibly meeting MLSE about the XFL...crickets in the Toronto media. A clear indication the XFL is not on the radar in Toronto.

I guess if this is true, and not saying I think it is, then MLSE would become a third partner with RedBird and Johnson. Remember, the entire league is under 1 ownership. There are no franchise owners. Possible the league isn't looking as prosperous as the investors originally hoped and are looking for an influx of cash from another stupid party.

It's not going to happen, at least not for a long time. This wacky idea only came about because the CFL had a stoppage.

None of it makes any sense. Does Tanenbaum think that XFL franchises will one day have value of $800 million??

He just might Ravi. He looked into the Rock's eyes and believed every minute of it. One thing I learned in my time as a wrestler. Nobody bullshit's more than wrestlers. Rock has that gift.

Thanks for the correction regarding the TIFF. As for the XFL novelty that you mentioned. Remember the Toronto Phantoms of the 1990s? When I heard Toronto was granted an AFL franchise I was certain it would draw good crowds because it was American based. I could not have been more mistaken. TBH a Toronto XFL team would struggle mightily at the gate and on TV but I feel MLS would work hard to keep it afloat.

XFL TV #s up here would be miniscule - a tiny fraction of what the CFL gets now; but still, some bean-counters and corporate weasels would see way more value in an all-American enterprise, and could rationalize going nuts sinking money into it and promoting the hell out of it.

This story sounds fake. Or as they say in pro wrestling, a work.

Before The Rock invested in the XFL, I had wished he could have been enticed to get involved with the Argos as a part owner, especially with his connection to the CFL when he tried out for the Stampeders. He would appreciate what it takes to play in this league and could really help promote the game. I mean, the popcorn sales from one of his movies would be enough to cover payroll for how many years, and with his celebrity status, it could have been something to entice new fans new partners perhaps, and something he could have had some fun with. Oh well, not the first wish of mine that hasn't come true. Lol.

Correct me if I am wrong. Was it not Larry Tannenbaum who first agreed to buy the Argos through his holding company before he got MLSE to join in?
