    "Fan Appreciation Day"

In a story in The Athletic back on June, on "how to fix the Argos", Bill Manning said the team would be concentrating its marketing efforts on 4 games - the two during the CNE, the one with Hamilton, and a "fan appreciation" promotion for the final home game.

This year, he said the focus will be on four home games. The Argos will host two games at BMO Field during the Canadian National Exhibition later this summer, and game tickets will also secure entry into the fairgrounds.

There will also be a build-up for a home game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and a fan appreciation promotion with the home finale this fall. Manning said the hope is that the modest promotions draw a few more fans into the building, and that the product on the field will draw them back.
Hmm. I was handed a tiny bag of six M&M's on the way out yesterday. I guess I should feel appreciated.

    I love m&m’s. I feel slighted that I didn’t get any.

I was at fan appreciation day last week in Hamilton. They gave away eight game-worn jerseys to lucky fans. Argos did not appear to put much effort into this, to say the least.

Just be glad they came in a bag. They don't melt and they could have saved by buying them loose.

I was impressed that the contestant guessed the which-cup-is-the-Timbit-in correctly for, what, the 3,000th straight game. Imagine. What are the odds?

somewhat less impressed that the in-stadium phone trivia game thing seemed to be missing completely. I know it had technical issues but I didn't think they'd just give up on it so quickly.

Who knows what crowd they could get if Manning chose to put a honest effort into it...

Hmm. Chickens vs. eggs. The Hamilton game and the two CNE games were pretty much predetermined to be three of the most attended games of the season.

Bill Manning and Randy Ambrosie are having a contest today to see who has the best Invisible Man costume for Halloween. They promise to wear their costumes again at the Easter Final.

Manning waisted a perfect opportunity to trot out that Italian soccer player that TFC just signed for $14 mil..sarcasm. Meanwhile in Vancouver the Lions are opening up the upper bowl for the Western Football Conference Semi Final game this Sunday due to ticket demand.

Seems the Argos are doomed to having disinterested owners who pay the bills, or owners with passion for the team but who eventually run out of money.

At least with MLSE there are far less articles implying the Argos will fold by the following season. Those would get to me back in the day.

2019, the Argos gave away every single game worn jersey for fan appreciation day. That was pretty cool and I was able to snag one of the winning T shirts that were tossed into the crowd and ended up meeting and receiving Malcolm Williams’s jersey. Don’t know why that can’t be done again. They did have AJ Ouellette and Allen sign autographs post game under section 123, but I believe that was only for certain season ticket holders, as I didn’t get the invite last year when it was Gittens and Bede.

I'm sure if they had a playoff game coming up, that wouldn't have happened. No way Manning would approve an additional 46 X $100 (wholesale estimate) new jerseys to have been ordered if they had another game to play.

Didn’t think of that. I guess I’d rather the team make the playoffs! I wonder if they will wear both white and blue jerseys if they make the Grey Cup?
