Oct. 9, 1989 - Ottawa Rough Riders @ Toronto Argonauts

Not a very good Argos team at all, but of note:

    1. Pinball's first rushing TD takes place in the 2nd quarter of this game.
    2. Ottawa QB Damon Allen and his backup Tony Kimbrough get hurt forcing receiver Steve Howlett to play QB.
    3. It was Yom Kippur so Ottawa's coach Steve Goldman didn't coach in this game.
    4. On paper, this Argos team should have been so much better

1989 was, arguably, the most disappointing Argos season since the mid-1970s. They were moving into a brand, spanking, new state-of-the-art stadium while hosting the Grey Cup. Everything was set up for a magical season and it turned into a wretched disaster.

    Not unlike the 2016 season.

The QB play seems to have been the biggest issue in 1989.

I remember Pinball talking about the 1989 season in one of his books, I recall one line in particular and it was to this effect:

"Our offence consisted of handing the ball off to Gil Fenerty and hoping for the best, which didn't always materialize"
