I'm sure the coaching staff have given thought to how they might address this issue.
The likely "true" Canadians that will start are Metchie, Williams and Smith on D and Hunter, Nicastro, Bladek, Gittens and Harris on offense. This would mean the team can start 8 "true" Canadians. If I might be so bold, I'd suggest Quellette be designated as Canadian which would allow the coaches to rotate Harris and Quellette, whenever they wish, without having to make any other alterations to the roster to keep the "8 Canadian" rule.
The coaches may have more and better approaches but this is a possible example of how the "pseudo Canadian" rule could be utilized. Hopefully the use of the "pseudo Canadian" term doesn't offend anyone.
Ouellette must have some French Canadian blood in him somewhere with a last name like that.
GO ARGOS!!!
If you've read any of my non-Brescacin contributions to this thread, you would know I have expressed plenty of faith in mgmt. That doesn't mean I have to support everything they do, no matter how many great years we have. Just as I don't think you have to (or do) support everything mgmt does. Unless you are now telling us how strongly you supported the signing of Brandon Banks a year ago? Or is that a reach, too?
And yes, I do know 100% that Brescacin was not injured most of the time in 2022. I have no idea what his health was like in previous years.
I have no interest in arguing with you, AV, but I'm going to continue to form my own opinions on any move this team makes. Most of the moves it has made the last two years have been good ones. Not every one, though.

No, I still wish that Banks was never signed. IMO he also contributed nothing to the team. And they moved on from him, just like they did Brescacin. Sorry, I don’t consider the odd TD as being a major contributor. Banks probably cost them more TD’s than he helped them score. Truth be told, I wanted Brescacin in the line up all year. As I did Eric Rogers. But I can see why they moved on from all these guys. Brescacin has made some spectacular catches over his career, but they have been few and far between. Might he have a bounce back season? Maybe. But I’m not expecting it. I think he will be a depth receiver.

The Argos have created excellent depth at DE. Additionally, the players are all young with great upside. Smith (25) and Orimolade (27) should be starters. Barlow(25) was a solid performer in the latter half of last season. Fayed (23) has excellent athletic ability. Costigan (25) comes highly recommended. Johnson (23) a rookie with good size and explosive speed. Knight (23) has untapped potential.
There should be fierce competition at training camp and some talented players may not make the team.
And IMO, moving on from J. Davis (one of the best DEs in the CFL a few years ago IMO, but did not seem as strong with the Argos last season) and Shane Ray (flashed talent but inconsistent plus injury issues) should be no problem.
Costigan (i was so impressed by him when he first played for the EE as a rookie) & Oirmolade are potential great adds as push rush forces. Be interesting to see how Dionte Knight fits in - hope they do not give up on him with all the other D-line talent to consider. Imagine if Argo draft pick Luiji Vilain ran out of NFL luck and decided to report to the Argos.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Yep - doubt he plays much or any receiver for the Ticats, who will likely roll with a National at wide-side WR (Ternowski perhaps) as part of their 7 only need apply package. He's no lock to even make their team, but they were wise to at least sign him, and maybe he could still be a force as a ST tackler, plus depth receiver.
What I really think this thread could use is more discussion about a journeyman, National receiver.
