    2023 Schedule

It's out, and as usual there are some wonky parts with respect to the Argos.

Only one game against Wpg (at Wpg), and one against B.C. (no game in Vcr this year).

Byes in weeks 1, 5 and 11, meaning no rest from mid-August until end of the season.

Four games against Ham, 3 each against Mtl (two road) and Ott (two at home).

No way of knowing yet which is the TD Atlantic game, but it will presumably be either July 29 vs Sask or Aug. 13 vs Ott. Hopefully the latter so we don't in effect give another of our home games to the Roughriders.

Home games are as follows: two on Sunday evenings, one on Monday (at end of Canada Day weekend), two on Friday and four on Saturday. Ridiculously, our lone CNE game this year is on a Friday.

It's July 29th. It's on the Argonauts site

Toronto’s Week 8 game vs. Saskatchewan on July 29th will be a neutral site game but will officially be an Argos home game. Toronto is no stranger to playing neutral site games recently having played in Wolfville, NS last season as part of the Touchdown Atlantic Series, Moncton, NB (2019, 2010), a preseason game in Guelph, ON (2018, 2022), Fort McMurray, AB (2015), a preseason game in Halifax, NS (2005) and a preseason game in London, ON (2012). More details to come in the new year.

After all of the (slight) momentum in an increase in bums in the seats during the 2022 season, whose bright idea was it to schedule two Sunday night games starting at 7:00pm? And just in case we didn't need a further kick to the teeth, let's schedule the first game of the season (home opener where the championship banner will be raised) to be one of those Sunday night games. All I can do is shake my head.

There is no reason not to play each team twice in a 9 team league. You then play Hamilton your natural rival a third time, and another divisional opponent a third time (alternating Ottawa and Montreal)every other year. 4 times is too much. I thought they did this in 2022 to save money post covid. AND the Argos should be playing Winnipeg in WEEK ONE.

Oh goodie, we have in fact not only given up a home game for the 30th year in a row, but given it to the one team whose fans are sure to outnumber ours at the "neutral" site.

Why are the Argos always the sacrificial lamb for this game? Because our home attendance is the worst? Too bad. MLSE needs to step up and sell tickets. All they need to do is sell 250,000 tickets per year to sell out 9 home games and 1 playoff game to sellout. That's it. In a market of 4-5 million people. People make this out to be way harder than it needs to be. Ownership needs to want to have home games.

There are 3 bi-weeks, and they can't schedule them every 6 games approximately? No excuse again to force any team to play last 10 games straight.

Yeah, I second that. Fewer doubleheaders (and only one triple, I believe) is a good thing from a TV viewing standpoint. I assume there will be some teams with short turnarounds given that games are being played on Sundays and Thursdays; fortunately Argos don't have too many of those. But we do have one brutal stretch of five games in 25 days between Sept. 4 and 29. Gaps of four days, five days, seven days and four days. Fortunately only one long road trip in that segment. Our travel is decently spaced: Edmonton June 25, TD Atlantic July 29, Calgary Aug. 4, Winnipeg Sept. 29, Sask Oct 21.

And get this -- six teams have byes in the last two weeks of the season, when there are only three games each weekend. A lot of teams will be more rested than Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary heading into the playoffs. We're gonna need to finish first and get that bye.

With TD Atlantic in there, the Argos are away from home for 6 weeks in the summer; most of July to mid August.
The CFL and MLSE should be putting their heads together to craft an ideal schedule in Toronto to drive interest, and bums in seats, and keep them relevant in the market all season long. Every year Toronto is identified as a weak market. And every year they pull this same stuff. Give somebody else the TD Atlantic game, and they shouldn't be more than 2 games on the road.
They will be playing 4 road games in a row including the Atlantic game. Sorry, but that's bull$hit

Yes they will have to finish first 3 years in a row just to overcome the schedule. Winnipeg and Calgary are screwed too? I thought when you did well, the league gives you an easier schedule the next year as a reward, since everyone is gunning for you?

A Week 1 Bye 2 years in a row….come on…with the “Neutral Site” game, that puts the team on the road for a month. Give TD Atlantic to another deserving team.

It's F1 weekend in Montreal. If you notice the Alouettes are off that weekend.TSN also has to schedule the MLS game of the week on Saturday Night.MLS is scheduling a majority of their games on Saturday nights between 7:00 and 10:00.Apple TV is dictating the schedule change. You need to accept the CFL is not the priority.Take a number and wait to be served.

Remember when the “Grey Cup Rematch” would take place in week 1? Not if the Argos are Defending Champs.

TSN prioritizes MLS over CFL? Your $hitting me, right? 50,000 viewers for MLS versus 5-10 times that number for CFL. It would be refreshing for a media outlet, traditional or otherwise to approach the CFL and say...you know what you guys pull alot of eyeballs to your product, and have an absolute goldmine with your title game here's what we can do for you. And we think that you have been neglected so badly, that with just a little attention we can double those numbers in a few years.

    my 2 cents.

With unbalanced divisions, creating a "balanced" schedule creates unbalance.

The results have been clear - Since Ottawa has come back in the league with a "Balanced" Schedule there was a crossover every year except 1?

If you go further than that, statically there is a better chance for a team from the west crossing over. Almost nil for an east team. I brought this up here with Math before Ottawa came back to the league as a case for keeping Winnipeg in the east for a few years.

You can blame shitty east teams, but there was numerus examples of an east team missing out by 1 game during the crossover era.

Simply put, western teams had more opportunity to beat up on shitty east teams than east teams did. And as we saw last season, the chance to an "unbalanced" schedule allowed Hamilton who was fair behind to string a few wins (also vs Western Team) and make the playoffs.
