I hope he rebounds from last year and we get the Boris from 2021.

Glad Bede is back. After all the recent National signings its good to get an American player kept in the fold.

He should count as an international. Isn't he from France?

And he played in Usport which would give him National status if he were new to the league today. Absolute stupidity that that rule can’t be applied retroactively.

I may be in the minority, but I don’t think Bede had a bad year. The majority of his misses were on kicks from 48 yards plus, many of which wouldn’t have even be attempted by some of the more “accurate” kickers in the league.

Totally agree. Dinwiddie trotted Boris out to try those longer FGs and he still ended up with a % of over 78. The Pudgy FG kicker from Ottawa wasn’t required to attempt those.

Not to mention he is also the best K.O. guy in the league and he can also Punt.

Yep, Bede is an outstanding member of the team. He does two things tremendously well -- FGs and KOs -- and can be used as a punter if needed. He also had to adjust to a new holder which IMO contributed to some of his early-season misses. There's no better kicker available, glad we are keeping him.

The standard for FG kickers has risen dramatically over the past decade and a half or so as well. As recently as the mid-2000s, a kicker with a 78% FG accuracy rate would be among the top in the league. Dave Cutler is in the Hall of Fame and his accuracy rate was only a bit better than 60%, as I recall.

Anyway, I completely agree with those who are saying that Bede did not have a bad year in 2022 and that he tries more long FGs than anyone else too. I would take him in a heartbeat over a kicker like Lewis Ward or Sean Whyte, whose range is quite limited. His deep kickoffs is something that I have admired since he came into the league too - he occasionally gets singles on them which isn't the worst thing and it gives the Argos defence an advantage in field position.
Chad Kelly + Dan Adeboboye + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
