Barker out. Murphy back in?

If this is true, it's a huge deal. Murphy obviously has to atone for the unacceptable language he used after the 2021 EF, but presuming he does so, I can't see why he can't come back into the fold. I won't be sad to see Barker gone.

Ahhh yes, part of the same fan base that precipitated this incident with their deplorable display after that game.
Basically they should STFU and mind their own business, I suspect the vitriol aimed at Chris Edwards has subsided since he has signed with Hamilton.
If MLSE is bringing Murphy back then he must have made amends for his role in this incident, I have no issue with him coming back, I think he is well connected down south and a pretty shrewd talent evaluator so have at it.
Jim Barker has been a key contributor during his various stints with the Argos, I have talked to him a couple of times over the years and found him to be a very nice man and wish him well.

At the moment I'm still a little mixed about the whole thing. MLSE and John Murphy are definitely going to have to publicly address what happened and show some form of apology and self-improvement beyond a couple 1 hour session with Human Resources.
That being said, having been there that day and when I look back at some of the footage from what happened, it was just an absolute mess on all sides. Considering only a few TiCat fans who flung beers, uttered inappropriate slurs of their own, rammed through the barriers and exchanged punches with Argos players, it seems like a double-standard for how little the fans involved have not been held accountable (plus the horrendous lack of effort by security to do their jobs).
I understand why he acted like that in the heat of the moment, but that doesn't excuse it. Hopefully we can just put this incident behind us and focus on the draft on Tuesday. Especially with Jim leaving before the draft it would be extremely beneficial to have John's wealth of scouting expertise in the war room.

I did see a tweet from last summer by Murphy during Pride Month, which showed much remorse for what happened after that 2021 playoff game. If he is truly remorseful and understands the damage that his words had, I think that's a positive step forward. Is it enough? I think that's for others to determine.

This is great news. With Coach Barker, who played key roles with the Argos over the years now moving on to TV, its vital the team has a proven replacement in John Murphy to go along with rising stars Vince Magri and Alex Russell.

No idea, any involvement by Tiger-Cats fans in these incidents seems to have been swept under the rug.

Jim Barker is still listed as a Senior Advisor on argonauts.ca, although the website sometimes takes time to get updated.

Last time he joined the Argonauts very little was said if I recollect correctly, he just appeared at a scouting combine and that was it.
Perhaps the same this time or maybe the Argos are concerned about getting flack for rehiring the guy who bullied those poor innocent fans from Hamilton?
