If memory serves, Carnell was injured in the regular season finale against Montreal. I never knew just how serious that injury was until now though.

I thought he had suffered an injury a few weeks prior to this, it may have been that Calgary loss where multiple players went down.

That’s rough for Carnell. We all know how the CFL works in that a lot of times, these guys never get their jobs back.

Barring the injury, I think that the Argos would've preferred Carnell to lockdown that boundary halfback spot where Shaq Richardson started. I don't know what their plans are for boundary corner and boundary half because Jamal Peters and Shaq Richardson are no longer on the team. Peters may be back if his prospects with the Falcons don't work out, but I've noticed that Richardson has gone un-signed this offseason. It would really be nice for Robertson Daniel to stay healthy and lockdown that boundary corner spot. Maybe they experiment with McFadden there?

The top storyline for me is at Quarterback, how will Chad Kelly perform as “the guy” over an extended period of time and will any of the other QB’s in camp emerge as a viable backup.
The success of this season will depend on how these questions play out.

It seems odd to me that Shaq Richardson isn't signed yet.

Anyone else surprised by the cuts in other teams' training camps so far? I know there's always at least one shocker every year but it seems like a lot more already this season. Some high profile guys like Lemar Durant in Ottawa and Bralon Addison in The Badlands, plus the injury to Jalen Philpot in Calgary (Different circumstance, but still impactful). Seems like there are going to be a lot more young and inexperienced receivers, so I'm glad the consensus here is that 4 of our 5 receiver slots are pretty much set. Nostalgia wants me to see Dontrelle Inman have a good camp but we have so many different guys that could break through and take that spot.

I don't think Durant was cut. I believe he retired...should have retired before last season. He was horrible for Hamilton last year. The release of Addison is surprising. They should have released him long before he drove all the way from Texas to not even get to participate in camp. They obviously new they were going to make this move.

What makes it more odd is that nobody in the Canadian football media even mentions as to why this is.

According to Steve Milton of the Spec, Ticats demanded Addison cut his salary from $140k to $70k. He was willing to take a cut, but not one that big. He's now signing with Ottawa.

I just assumed Addison hadn’t fully recovered from his injury. Glad he is healthy. As for the Ti Cats “offer”, sounds like they offered something they knew he couldn’t accept. Classless move from “The Hammer”.

Most teams have done this at some point, I imagine.

A lot of the Canadian football media just don't have a lot of in depth knowledge of CFL teams & rosters. Shaq R. is a top notch, proven D talent. I read mistakes galore or WTF type comments from some of the regular reporters. Zero mention of Michael O'Connor either - and with some teams having very little in terms of QB depth/competition. CFL draft reporting I find quite lacking as well.

They might think his injury makes him much less the receiver than he was at his previous best? But still, that's a huge pay-cut to minimum wage ???

Gotta wonder what type of TEAM is in the works for the Ticats; all kinds of big supposed star FA additions; adding some good ole / same ole coaches to a crowded staff. Treating Addison like this. Wonder if Bob-O will have the guts to make changes (and even in season) if they don't produce a winning team? More likely give them more chances - maybe Scotty M gets HC ?
