Sure but you can’t just discount Edmonton’s numbers; before you make a claim about overall trends, you’d have to validate all the other attendance reports over the years from every other team too, an impossible task.

I'd say Edmonton's numbers were highly unrealistic last year, too, so it's difficult to judge what changes might've happened this year for the Elks attendance. But Toronto, BC, and Montreal have all clearly improved at the gate. That's a positive sign. However, I'd say that both Edmonton and Calgary have work to do to get as many butts in seats as they claim they have.

Edmonton's actual attendance this year looks stronger than it was a year ago. It's a huge stadium and their announced numbers don't seem out of line with what it's looked like visually. If Tre Ford can continue his progress, I expect that we will see attendance increase there next year. The biggest concern, from a league standpoint IMO, is Calgary.

I don't think Edmonton is fudging their numbers. Commonwealth is a huge stadium and it certainly looks like they get more fans in there than BMO Field.

If the attendance of this year's East Final is higher than last year, then this season will have been nothing but a success.

Hopefully that is the case and MLSE takes notice. You have a 20 per cent growth in attendance and an increase in television views, all organic. If there is a time to throw money at the Argos, that time would be now.

John Hodge from 3downnation.com requested an interview with Bill Manning to discuss the nice bump in Argos attendance this year but the interview request was, sadly, declined.

Hodge posting that online might be a clue as to why the Argos declined the request. Much of 3DN is about, erm, 3DN.

They've also hardly been a Argo-friendly publication over the years.

Sounded like a good opportunity for Manning to discuss the positive rise in attendance and he wastes it.

Manning may have been busy dealing with Michael Bradley's retirement announcement.

Meh, the organization owes little to 3DN, though I doubt Manning is aware of the reasons why.

They released some seats in the North Endzone for the playoff game. Think that is good idea as these are slightly cheaper seats so helps on the $ side ... and really hate seeing this section empty. I would think the first several rows of the 2nd floor East side they should be able to sell at more expensive price as these are excellent seats.... hopefully we get there...

    Go ARRGOS !!!!

The CFL's finest print journalist, by far. Given a choice between Cdn Press and 3DN, well, there is no choice, really.

I calculated the percentage growth from the data in the url below.

CFL attendance is up 2.98% this year during the regular season, with Argos showing the biggest increase in percentage growth at 20.50% and 2,434.9 more fans on average, while BC had the largest numerical increase at 2,821 for a 13.84% growth rate.

Winnipeg had the largest home average attendance at 30,448.8 with an increase of 1,807.1 fans for a growth rate of 6.31%, showing how ongoing success can build attendance. Something I hope the Argos can continue for the next couple of years at least.

Calgary and Ottawa had the biggest drops in attendance with Calgary down 7.50% 1759.6 fans on average and Ottawa down 6.31% and 1,272.9 fans on average.

Saskatchewan is up by a marginal 0.79% and 217.4 more fans and Montreal is basically the same attendance with just an average of 12.3 fewer fans for a 0.07% change.

Hamilton had a 2.75% increase with 612.9 more fans on average.

The Elks despite the many empty seats at many games reported an increase of 987.8 fans on average for a gain of 4.15%.
