CFL Fans Fight Cancer (CFLFFC) is a grassroots group of community-minded Canadian Football League fans who are passionate about supporting the fight against Cancer. Established in 2005, CFLFFC started as a direct result of Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ coach Ron Lancaster’s cancer diagnosis. Annually, the CFLFFC raises money through various means (50/50s, BBQs, online donations, etc.) throughout the CFL season, culminating in a large in-person fundraising event hosted during Grey Cup weekend. Each year, the group chooses a deserving cancer charity in the Grey Cup host-city to be the beneficiary of that year’s fundraising efforts. Since inception, the group has raised over $100,000.00.

This year’s CFLFFC fundraising efforts will benefit Wellwood Resource Centre of Hamilton, a not-for-profit support program for those living with cancer (https://www.wellwood.ca). The in-person fundraising event will take place on Saturday November 18th, 2023 (between 1:00 – 5:00 pm) at Endzone Bar & Grill. So some of you who follow me on Twitter or are friends with me on Facebook will be aware that I am going to be participating in something to support CFL Fans Fight Cancer. Two Ticat fans will be wearing double blue on Monday at the LDC, and I will be wearing black & gold on September 23rd.

I have not turned to the darkside, but doing it to help raise funds for CFL Fans Fight Cancer.

Years ago I approached Jim Barker about some Argos swag for this event. I didn’t have any luck. Maybe it was the timing. I think some signed jerseys from the likes of Kelly, AJ, Harris and/or McMannus Pickett would do very well for the fundraising.

This is a great event if you make it ... its at the grey cup every year. Money usually goes to help out cancer support groups in the grey cup city... consider to check it out if you can make some time... Thanks again to everyone that does the hard work to make this happen... This is awesome ...

The event today at End Zone Bar and Grill in Hamilton was unbelievably attended. I was there for a couple of hours, but had to leave because of another commitment, but I was very impressed with the effort and organization for this event by the group's committee. Well done Will, and everyone else on that committee.

They were able to get a pretty awesome sum for the Argos donation.

Danny Webb provided a practice ball that was used the week of the Eastern Final, I'm pretty sure it was a game ball at one point.

The night of the awards, the ball was signed by the Argo winners; Dinwiddie, Kelly, Allen, Leake and Stiggers.

I'm happy to report the ball went for $500!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out to Hamilton on Saturday afternoon for the event. We raised $35,000.00 over the course of initiatives that took place over the latter half of the season culminating on Saturday. All proceeds went to Wellwood Resource Centre in Hamilton.

I must send my thanks as well to everyone who was involved with such a fun day! It was great to set aside all our differences and work as a team to fight cancer! Over $35k is a huge accomplishment and everyone involved should be very proud of the total we raised and the fun we had in doing so. As someone who could only attend Saturday and Sunday, it was the best event to have on the tail-end of the festivities the day before the big game.
