Certainly overshadows TFCs win last night. I eluded in an other post that I looked forward to see Kelly being the Argos QB for years to come, but wasn’t entirely serious. Great news for both the CFL and of course, the entire city of Toronto.

Thank you Mr Manning for getting this done!

3 year extension on a 29 year old Quarterback playing elite level football which has us at an 8-1 record who goes on to express his affection for the club and the city.

This is just fantastic any way you slice it.

To say this changes the outlook and future of our beloved team would be a massive understatement!

You would have to think he is now one of the highest if not the highest paid QB in the League perhaps behind Collaros.

Hoping if the door was slightly ajar, closes the door firmly shut on a MBT reunion which may have been a possibility had Kelly tried his luck in the NFL this off-season...

I am certain Argo fans have yet to see the best of Chad Kelly.

But does this make it any less likely that we could lose him to the NFL this off-season? Not really. If he gets a good offer he’s gone, Argo deal or not.

OTOH I’m wondering if Chad sees the BS Rourke is going through right now and says screw that.

We’ll have to wait for the details, but “told ya”. It doesn’t hurt to make the offer to deter any NFL interest. What an offer it must have been. Has to be highest paid. I still ponder if Josh Smith or any of the 3rd Down guys think it’s now ok to say Kelly is a top 3 QB. Imagine how good Kelly is going to be and what’s Argos records he could have. This is crazy good news for the franchise.

After he makes this his statement for the press: “Today marks not only a contract extension, but an extension of my commitment to the amazing city of Toronto, my teammates, coaches, front office and MLSE,”

You'd reckon he sees himself in Double Blue for the next several years.

Justin Dunk is reporting the contract to be 3 years for 1.865M in total, thus making him the highest paid player in the league. I personally am good with that. He’s been the highest profile Argo player in years.

Wonder if that isn't the total value? Like, bonuses included?

I hope you’re right Ryan but he’s not gonna suggest today or even hint that he would still consider an NFL offer.

Maybe I’m just a nervous Nancy, but I can’t celebrate 3 more years of The Chad in Double Blue until the window closes in February.

There's always a chance he could end up in the NFL but I really don't think chances are great given his age, that he isn't really the type of #2 QB that NFL teams are looking for (Dave Naylor has written about that) and that he would be too old to be a developmental practice roster QB in the NFL. I also saw today on Twitter that he is due a $250k bonus next year if he doesn't sign in the NFL, so it would take some serious guaranteed money from the NFL to lure him there and it's doubtful he would get that. Further, he has a great situation in Toronto as he is the #1 guy, will make good coin, loves the city and is able to play in front of his parents every home game plus the games in Hamilton. It doesn't get much better than that.

Chad’s parents sit in my section. His Dad often gives me a high five when walking up the isle (I have the end seat). Very cool guy and the nicest, approachable people.

At the very least, one can look at this as a testament to how far the Argos have come, in terms of being an attractive club for high-profile players, in just a few short years.
