Game Thread: Hamilton at Ottawa Friday Sept. 8

They are both weak teams, so picking a winning a winner is difficult. I'll go with Ottawa because they had the bye week, Crum has been good at times, they are playing at home, and the Ticats have problems with Duke Williams wanting out of Hamilton. Having said all of that I can't say my choice was made with much enthusiasm.

This was an easy pick for me with Ottawa playing at home coming off a bye and the Ticats playing on the road with just three days between games. This is a "gimme" game for the Redblacks if there ever was one.

It seems as though Crum's learning curve has really flattened. If the Redblacks continue to lose, I wonder if they'll give Pigrome a few chances to run the offense. He's been with the team for a while now and should be up to speed on their system at this point.

I feel bad for Redblacks fans. They had the lead many times but couldn't hold on. Crum looks good at times, but was outplayed by Powell in this one.

Crum still makes too many mistakes. I think he will improve. Nice to see 2 young QB's move the ball as well as they did in this one.

Other than that first INT, Crum played well, including in the first half when his teammates (including Lewis Ward) failed him. Ottawa's defence is atrocious though. They used to have a good pass rush but that has disappeared as the season has progressed.

Dyce and his OC & DC are clueless IMO and should be punted out of town ASAP; another embarrassing loss caused by dumb as a plank coaching - when they had a bye week to prepare and were facing a mediocre team coming off 3 days rest. Inexcusable !

But young Powell is playing very well at QB for a rookie lately, and Tim White is a good receiver.

Positive for Ottawa was one of the best games by an Ottawa CFL team at RB - Williams - in a long time - he was outstanding. And their O put up over 400 yards at least. They just have a total dullard as an OC who does not grasp variety or making good calls at key times.

I wish he would be able to make quicker reads, though. Or maybe his recievers are not getting open or not running the proper routes, but far too many broken plays. Whoever is doing the playcalling might need to adjust too--have a look at what Edmonton did with Ford in his first few games and try to design something similar for Crum.

it's definitely the reads. Hopefully he will get quicker as he progresses into his career.
