    150th Anniversary Game

Argos have released DETAILS regarding the 150th anniversary game to be played on October 6, 2023 against the Edmonton Elks. Of note:

On October 4th, the date the team was founded in 1873, the Argos, in cooperation with Football Toronto, will host the Argos Cup, a flag football tournament that will bring together teams from 20 different schools from across the Greater Toronto Area competing for the championship as well as individual skills challenges. Current Argos players, including quarterback Chad Kelly, and alumni will participate in the event throughout the day supporting the participating young athletes.
The Argos Cup is part of the team’s commitment to the continued growth of grassroots football within the community and partnerships with Football Toronto, Football Ontario and Toronto Flag Football that will see the Argos commit $200,000 over the next two years to football development.
The team hosts the Edmonton Elks on Friday, October 6th, the Argos will celebrate the history of the team that has made it the oldest professional sports team in North America still using its original name and the Canadian Football League record-holder for Grey Cup Championships with 18 titles. Fans will be invited to a special pre-game tailgate celebration at the Stanley Barracks, just steps from BMO Field, with legendary Argos alumni including Condredge Holloway, Terry Greer, Ricky Ray and Raghib ‘Rocket’ Ismail. Throughout the game, including a special anniversary halftime event, the team will pay tribute to each decade and welcome back the Argos legends who are synonymous with the Double Blue’s rich history.
Ideally, I'd love for as many alumni to be introduced as possible, though the length of halftime may impact on that, perhaps something that could be done after the game.

this is sounding awesome, for a 50-year fan like me. Love to see past Argo heroes return to town.

Stanley Barracks is where they held the pre-game stuff pre-COVID, correct? on the east side?

So being 11and1 for the only time in 150 years, this team really deserves a big crowd on Oct. 6th

Another record to be celebrated that night. Incredible. Will be a good game as well. Edmonton is a good team now. Chris Jones should lose his job for not playing Tre Ford from beginning of season. They would be in third out west if not second.

Cornelius showed some promise and wanted to be in Edmonton. Ford showed some promise and went to an NCAA pro day in the off-season in an attempt to get noticed by NFL scouts. You can argue they should have gone to Ford earlier, but I get why Edmonton decided to hitch their wagon in the off-season to Cornelius.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ford takes another shot at the NFL this winter.

The Argos have released some more DETAILS about the game. There will be autograph sessions near Stanley Barracks featuring Argos alumni Ricky Ray, Condredge Holloway, Damon Allen, Terry Greer, Mookie and Rocket.

Doug Flutie, Carl Brazley, Rodney Harding, Joe Barnes and Chad Owens will also be here for the game, among others I imagine.

Wish they announced more alumni and opportunities to meet, chat, sign autographs. 6 players representing 150 years is slim. Should be 150 . 4:00 on a Friday is though. Wonder why they waited until October.

    I can't make it to the pre-game festivities,unfortunately.

I hope we get a good crowd for this game, but it looks like there are still a ton of tickets available. The Elks being in town doesn't help, but it is still disappointing that we can't more people interested.

I look at TFC, who have absolutely sucked, and they still almost fill every section of the stadium. Boggles the mind.

Really cool seeing some of the ATEAM / Sunshine girl alumni with grey hair practicing for this weekends game. Also great Chad Owens signed 1 day contract to Retire an ARGO. Should be a great event on Friday.

Yeah it is a real shame about the weather, especially when you look at the crazy, good weather we've experienced the last week. But at least now they are forecasting less rain on Friday evening, less than 1mm.

Sorta felt like a huge let down tbh. No way would MLSE allow this to take place if it were the Leafs. This like going to Guelph for the blue-white game only to find it it’s the end of the game despite the time being posted. There was no mention of any wristband policy and leaving early to make it in time, paying $27 for closer parking since it’s easier to put my things back into the car, only to find out that you need a coloured wristband. And the first people inside could only pick one (receiver group or QB group). As a serious collector this was a very disappointing. Especially since there was no mention in the article details. Luckily, someone decided to give up and leave and gave me one orange wrist band. It’s also clear that the people planning this have no experience with attending such events. Nor were there any actual staff on hand there that knew what was going on. The people handing out autograph cards had no idea about what was going on and everyone would shift the blame elsewhere. Even people with wristbands got cut off, so what’s the point in getting one? 45 minutes was not enough and having two groups at different times slowed things down. Also a rule should be in place, no photos and one autograph per person. It was run by private security and not by the Argos. Shipyard is great in a way but to celebrate 150 years and have all-time greats in a dingy tent looked amateurish to me. And I know a lot of die hards were upset on finding out about the wristbands.

The Alumni area helped get autographs in a much easier way but it was frustrating to wait in line for the tent and not being able to get there while you don’t want to lose your spot in line. And boy was Harding hard to track down.

Also it seems like they sold out on certain merch and had 150 stickers but when asked about them the staff (who seemed like just game day people with zero knowledge) had no idea where they’re from. It’s evident the Argos need a president to oversee such things and plan these out much better and professionally and don’t have fans disappointed. Not everyone can possibly get an autograph but at least communicate with your fans prior to rather than surprise them.
