Game Thread: Ottawa at BC Saturday September 16th

Eastern teams, even good ones, usually lose if BC is a mid level team or better, whether its jet lag or playing an away game that is the key. BC is a good team, Ottawa is improving, but still bad, so it should be BC's game, especially with them just having a bye week.

Former Argo DB Adbul Kanneh and RB Jackson Bennnett are among those out injured for Ottawa while the Lions are missing LB Bo Lokombo and Gary Peters on the injured list for today's game.

Cannot disagree with you there jerrym.
However remember the Argos had to win in BC in the last game of the season in 2017
in a weak East Division, to clinch 1st place and get to 9-and-9, AND TRESTMAN and RICKY RAY GOT THE JOB DONE...so weird stuff can happen.

Ottawa in deep do-do with Hamilton's win today and desperately needs a win.

    So far so good, though.

The underdogs have been doing well this week.

Lewis Ward is 3/3 on FGs so far to give Ottawa a 9-8 lead with two 53 yarders. He is 8/10 on the season on FGs over 50, showing he is no longer just the short distance kicker that so many complained about when he set the record of 69 consecutive FGs.

A bad decision by BC to not go for the FG when by 16 was overcome by a bad decision by Ottawa to go for the FG with ten point lead and two minutes to go that turned a missed FG return instead of a punt that would likely have pinned BC if well placed.

They shouldn't have tried that FG in the final two minutes or so, but I was surprised to see Ward miss from 50 after his earlier kicks.

Bobby D made some bad decisions down the stretch, though it made for an exciting ending.

IMO, his decisions have now cost his team 3 possible wins. kicking an 8 yard FG in Saskatchewan, Not calling a time out against the Als on 3rd and goal with 36 seconds left cost them a chance to get into range for a GW FG attempt, and the decision to try a 50+ yard FG last night are inexcusable. I was pulling for him to do well, but some guys are just better suited to be assistants.

Seven straight losses, that's tough to take. Even if close, as Stegall says a loss is a loss, period. Watch the crowd sizes in Ottawa after this.

Both the Argos and Redblacks were terrible in 2019. One franchise has turned it around, the other has not.

Redblacks ae much better than they were in the last 3 seasons. They are on the verge of winning most of their games, but IMO bad coaching decisions by Dyce have cost them at least 3 victories. Considering they are playing with a very inexperienced QB, they really can't afford bad coaching decisions. I expect to see Khari take over as HC next year.
