    Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif retires from NFL

    I felt Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif's retirement deserved its own thread. He was an excellent OL and the first active NFLer to become a doctor. However, more important he opted out of his NFL career during Covid to work as an orderly in a long-term care facility in Quebec in 2020, the same year he helped the KC Chiefs win the Super Bowl. How many other people would have even considered doing that, let alone do it? He then returned to the NFL in 2021-22 to round out a nine year career.
