I could see Allen winning MOOL as well. Argos gave up the fewest number of sacks by a large margin and had excellent team rushing stats as well. The Argos should win 4 of these. And I agree they will place 5/6 finalists.

Chad Kelly will be the east MOP, but I think he loses out to Brady Oliveira.

Adarius Pickett will be the east MODP, but I think he loses out to Mathieu Betts, because Oliveira will also get MOC.

Dejon Allen will be east MOOL, and has a great shot at winning the league award.

Qwan'tez Stiggers has a great chance at east MOR, and at league MOR.

Javon Leake should win special teams.

Stubblefield beats out Stiggers. Easily and that’s not a knock on him. Stubblefield should be ROY but just doesn’t get much media recognition

As for Kelly, he should be the league MOP. I guess it depends how you want define outstanding over the usual “most valuable”. I think Kelly is the most valuable and helped turn this team around. I know they’re defending champs so it’s hard to think how he’s turned the team around but this teams has just become quite excellent and is in a league of its own now.

How is Simoni the Ticats' top defensive player? He has played better lately but this seems like a reputation pick more than anything else.

Hardrick from the Bummers winning top O-lineman is another example of guys winning on past reputation or a reward for being around the league a long time; i hope the Hardrick of last year's GC - beaten like a rented mule - shows up again if they make the GC.

I should have placed a wager -- got 11 finalists correct out of 12. Missed on Kai Gray as West's top rookie. I stand by the above predictions, with Leake beating Gray as MOR.

I still think Stubblefield does not get enough recognition. https://en.montrealalouettes.com/202...e-of-the-year/

Among all defensive backs with at least 300 coverage snaps, Stubblefield ranks first in completion percentage allowed (31 percent), first in forced incompletion rate (34.5 percent), first in quarterback rating allowed (16.6), fourth in yards per coverage snap (0.42 yards per snap), and he has the second best PFF coverage grade at 87.4. He has yet to give up a touchdown in coverage all season.

I am curious how Stiggers is rated according to PFF.

I find that the OL picks have a tendency to be the most questionable and based upon past reputation. From my eyes, I didn't think that either of Winnipeg's tackles were as strong this season.

I think there was a good case for Ryan Hunter to be the Argo nominee. Without question ever since his arrival the Argos have been able to run the ball, and become a balanced offensive attack. And he should also win the overall award. Allen is very good, and is deserving also. The Argonauts have the best O and D lines in the league. Their winning of the line of scrimmage is another big piece of their overall success.

There's no doubt this is the best o-line we've had in years (decades?), and both Hunter and Allen are having all-star-calibre seasons. Nicastro and Ciraco aren't far off, either. I'm not a great judge of o-line performance but I note that Ben Grant thinks Allen is our best and most consistent, a shade ahead of Hunter. Hunter could also have been a good candidate for MOC if it weren't for Metchie's outstanding season.

I wonder why Bombers' DB Evan Holm was not their rookie nominee? - maybe he was in the NFL before? - but he was very good mostly all season IMO., and if he would qualify I would have voted for him.

*** edit - i see he played half a season last year

I had Hunter as the Argos best. For starters, he played every game. I can’t think of a time he got beaten for a sack, or took a holding penalty. But like I have said before, voters seem to look at tackles more often than not for this award.

Well, 5 of the nominees this year were actually interior O-linemen, but OTs usually get more recognition I guess; pretty sure I read some CFL reporter saying he would have went with ex-Argo Kowlankowski (center) as the Bombers guy there. Sean McEwen & Revenberg would have got my votes.
