    QB Coach Mike Miller

Someone on Facebook made an interesting point tonight about QB coach Mike Miller. I did not see Miller looking at the iPad with Chad Kelly this past Saturday as he did over the course of the season, and as he did with MBT in all of 2022. This poster said that he hadn't seen Miller on the sidelines since the 3rd last game of the regular season. Does anyone know what happened to Miller? Could his absence have had an effect on Chad Kelly this past Saturday? It's unfortunate that we no longer have traditional media in Toronto who would notice and look into this kind of thing so I guess we have to do our own sleuthing then.

I also noticed Miller’s absence from the sidelines a few games ago. Maybe he moved up to the booth but who knows? It gets to a point when you don’t bother asking.

He has been away from the team for several weeks. I'm sure he wasn't fired, so have to presume it's a personal issue of some sort, and he's entitled to privacy.

I have no doubt his absence made a huge difference in the Eastern Final. Miller reviewing the tablet with MBT, and later Kelly, was a significant factor in the team's offensive success the past two years. Kelly looked totally messed up on the sidelines on Saturday and needed someone to calm him down and get him refocused. This is one of the problems with the HC also being the OC; he can't spend too much time dealing with the QB during games.

In Miller’s absence I thought I noticed Pass Game Coordinator Pete Costanza around Kelly more.

I wonder if they considered bringing in MBT as an extra set of eyes to work with Kelly down the stretch. That would have been helpful, if it was a possibility.

Would have had to add the expense to the football ops cap, which was probably fully spent by then. Also would have undoubtedly triggered uncomfortable stories suggesting the team was not happy with their quarterbacking. Plus he still has the same familial responsibilities that caused him to move down south last winter.

It didn't look to me like PC was with him nearly as much as MM had been with both MBT and CK the past two seasons. The QB coach can really help the QB process what's happening on the field. Not saying PC couldn't do that but there might be a lot of importance in the personal relationship the QB coach builds up with the QBs. And Miller is uniquely talented at helping QBs, I've been told.

I have always heard that pro and high-level athletes are notoriously routine-oriented and any change in routine can be challenging. Miller has been working with Kelly for two seasons and I have to believe that his not being there on Saturday had an effect on Kelly.

So Argo fans can watch to see if the team hires a new QB Coach or perhaps Miller is back on the sidelines at TC.

Steve Simmons reports that Mike Miller left the team a few weeks ago due to a personal illness. Lets all hope that Coach Miller recovers and returns to good health.

I am glad that Miller's absence is mentioned in Steve Simmons' interview with Chad Kelly: https://torontosun.com/sports/footba...-in-east-final

I hope that Miller will be okay. I can't imagine that his absence wasn't a significant factor this past Saturday.
