Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
Tommy Nield + Jamie Harry have re-signed with the Argonauts.
Tommy took some nice strides in 2023, what happens in 2024 will be dictated on what the Argos do with Gittens (if anything).

Will Eugene Lewis have to re-structure his deal with the EE ? Two years in row they over-paid big time for receivers who did not produce (Lawler the year before) - but I doubt that clown ego-Jones has learnt anything.
Not sure why the Argos would want to cheap-out on Gittens, who was the best receiver on the team and one of the best in the league just 2 seasons ago ? Unless he is damaged goods who can't play up to previous form now ?
I guess somebody on the coaching staff saw something out of Harry, who was a mid season addition and maybe looked at as a temporary emergency fill-in for an injury depleted D-backfield. Built-up quite a bit of CFL experience now - be interesting to see if he makes the team out of TC; same deal with R. Sindani.
Argos have plenty of free agents that they will want to sign, Gittens owed $210,000 for the 2024 season may mean some free agents will have to walk.
Gittens had good chemistry with MBT but didn’t enjoy the same with Kelly.
I hope the Argonauts can re-sign Dejon Brissett.

Gittens was still getting his receptions, it's just many of his receptions were the quick toss / short yardage stuff that didn't always seem to result in yardage.

Well Gittens got quite a raise after dropping both balls thrown his way in the 22 Grey Cup. Are you suggesting they should not have given it to him because of 1 bad game?
I will say this, paying big money to a receiver is not a recipe for success. Didn't work for the Argos with Derel Walker. Didn't work for the Elks with Kenny Lawlor or Geno Lewis. It's a position where there are just too many good players to overspend on.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Agreed on over-paying receivers - especially the likes of Lawlor or Lewis - who are nowhere near a Terry Greer, Merv Fernandez, Brian Kelly, Tony Gabriel type - not even in the same area code.
And if players need to be restructured based on a poor game in the biggest game - Kelly's melt-down in the past East Final easily trumps Gittens' lack of production in the previous GC; IMO.
Gittens was just starting to develop chemistry with Chad when he got hurt. He was the top Argo receiver in the LDC and had another good game the next week before he got hurt.
The Argo offence went south after Gittens got hurt and it’s not a total coincidence IMO. Who’s to say that the Gittens-Kelly combo would’nt have caught fire as the season went on?
Gittens carried the offence in ‘22 and was the league MOC finalist. He gets hurt for half a season and people want to throw him under the bus, I don’t get it.
He did; but this happens all the time on these type discussion forums.
A smart GM might have IMO paid a Terry Greer or Tony Gabriel in their prime, huge top receiver bucks to keep or sign them as FAs; that clown Jones signing the likes of Lawlor or Lewis (both big-play, jump ball receiver talents, but nowhere near complete receiver talents, nor all-time great status) to huge CFL bucks, was moronic. But, maybe AV feels these guys are absolute superstar receiver talents, comparable to a Greer or Fernandez; and he's entitled to his opinion there.
Guys, Gittens is not an issue, at least not yet. He's a top-notch receiver who is under contract. Will the team cut him or demand a salary reduction? Maybe, maybe not. But until either of those things happens, I'm not going to stress about him, and I'm thrilled he is still an Argo.
The issue we *should* be worried about, IMO, is losing Brissett. He has developed into an extremely capable receiver who seems to have chemistry with Kelly -- AND he's heading into free agency. Signing Nield was a must, IMO, because if Brissett doesn't re-sign before February, I expect he will be showered with riches by some other team.
