BJ Byrd is also intriguing, especially as a returner. Even if they start only two NATs on defence (leaving 2 receivers and 3 on the o-line), they should be able to dress as many as four INT receivers, I think. One to rotate into offence on occasion and one as a kick returner. Last season they managed to dress Leake as well as three INT receivers fairly most if not all of the time, but part of the reason for that was we started more than seven NATs most if not all of the time. With Bede out of the mix, we have four designated INT spots to play with instead of three + Bede. Two d-linemen and two receivers/returners is one possible option.

I couldn't agree more. KACK ATTACKis perfect analogy. AJ was fun, but his style is is not sustainable - rather have a more skilled back. We will be fine at RB.

I know he caused consternation among some of us in 2021 and 2022, but he was pretty good in 2023. A depth piece to backup Cage is very important, given the injury history there.

In 2022, prior to the arrival of Ryan Hunter (who really helped change the effectiveness of the O), the Argos suffered numerous injuries to the O Line in a short period of time. Tait who himself was hurting was filling in for Allen at OT if I recall correctly. He was basically “Duct Taped” together but stayed in the lineup until the line was healthy.

He deserves a shot to start and hope he does well in Calgary.

Going a bit off topic, but in the upcoming Amateur Draft I hope the Argos can select FB/TE Jean-Antoine Ouellette for obvious reasons.

Ok; why a fullback/TE (little use last season), and why that guy ?

My apologies OV…just a little humour regarding the departure of AJ Ouellette. Bad joke on my behalf.

I'd like to see the Argos draft Alberta RB Matt Peterson off a huge U Sports season.

There are also 2 big, productive U Sports powerbacks that Jones drafted with the EE - Cinamakinda (GGs) & Beaulieu (Carabins) who both got cut with zero carries in ex. games last season, who might still be interested in playing in the CFL and who could be signed for TC look, perhaps. Some of these top U Sports players who get cut by the CFL team that drafted them seem to be written-off for another CFL look by other teams; while they sign lots of American player FAs (a lot of them with nice NCAA ball or an NFL look resume) they can load up on instead.

Chad Kelly deserves a lot of credit. This time last year, many of us were questioning his character and his ability to lead a team.

I don't care what kind of college bowl game he played in, be it the great financial life, chic-fil-eh, Jim's butt paste or super flower bowl. The East Final was the biggest game of his career as a professional and I believe he will learn from the experience.

He ends every interview with "Go Argos" and he restructered his contract to help the team. We all know he has the tools. He was the QB who got the Argos the 16 win season.

Quarterback has been a question mark for more seasons than not in the past 20 years and I think people forget this fact.

    The Argos are fine.

I wonder if Shawn Oakman will be returning, curious that he hasn’t been extended.
Personally I hope the Argos get him signed but the way things have transpired in the last few days it wouldn’t surprise me if they have moved on from him.

The 'tampering' announcements really did thin out after the first few days.

Its like Oakman doesn’t even exist. He would be great along with Brinkman and Ceresna rotating in the middle now that Hendrix fled to Hamilton for a year. I am sensing the team will go younger (cheaper) with USFL refugee DT Jordan Williams.

Brinkman is the guy who I think could be a real stud DT; Ceresna was an awesome pick-up; and D. Knight should improve do more perhaps; woulda been nice to retain the likes of Hendrix & Oakman, but DT should be very strong still, IMO.

The tampering window should be shortened to 3 days or scrapped IMO.
Free agency day is now rather anticlimactic given these deals are announced during the tampering week.

I agree with this. I think Knight will keep getting better and better. Having said that, I would like to add Oakman. He always seems to dominate in big games. Despite the loss, he was a beast in the Eastern final. Furthermore, he is another recognizable and popular plater on the team. It would be great to keep him.
