I'm sure there is not a coach, GM or QB in the league who would rate the Argos as having the eighth or ninth-best pass defence in the league. Many of the yards and TDs they surrendered were in second halves with big leads. Using the eyeball test rather than stats, I would rate the 2023 Argos no worse than second or third overall defence. In their one playoff game, they surrendered less than 200 yards passing and held Stanback to 15.

The Argos also lost 2 very good veteran D-halfs during the season and kept on rolling pretty strong on D. Points and yards given up in the 2nd half of games when the team has a decent lead or in the 2nd half of the season in a bunch of meaningless games, are not strong indicators of much IMO.

Not sure who had the better overall D last season? Argos was the best group by quite a bit IMO.

I agree. Only Wpg and (last half of the season) Mtl were in the conversation IMO.
