    Usfl +xfl =ufl

    Details are emerging about the 2 leagues merging for a March 30 kickoff. Speculation is there will be 8 teams down from 16 with those 8 teams being put on “Pause Mode”.

    The XFL is here to stay? Seems odd the new name (United Football League) is named after another failed spring league.

    Right. So one Houston team will play and the other will be put on "pause mode." LOL! How long does this new UFL last?

    Coaches too. Not only are many coaches suddenly unemployed due to the “Historic Merger”, position coaches were made seasonal employees meaning they are making less money. The way both leagues have been bleeding cash, I doubt players will be making anywhere near what they were.

    Last season there were 16 Spring teams….now there are 8. Basically 1 league folded. Merger my ass.

    Despite being allowed to sign players up until a few days ago, it is confirmed that USFL teams Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Orleans and New Jersey have folded.
    It is expected that 4 XFL teams will be folding as well.

    Word is the 4 XFL teams that are being scuttled are in no particular order….Orlando, Las Vegas, Seattle and Houston (to be rebranded the Gamblers) despite not yet having a stadium in place.

    Congrats to Dany and Duane. In one year they managed to kill off half of their league. Dispersal draft to be held January 15 with kickoff March 1.

    I am so glad that the CFL didn't join forces with the XFL a couple of years ago as some desired.

    The “Phase 1” Dispersal Draft in which only surviving USFL teams were allowed to pick players from “Pause Mode” USFL teams was to have been held yesterday has been pushed back to sometime next week. For fun I went on the LV Vipers website and am still able to place a deposit for seasons tickets although that team is certainly to have been folded like a JC Penney suit.

    Apparently players are being required to sign league contracts if they wish to be drafted in “Phase 1”.

    A big splash was made on the NFL on FOX on Sunday announcing the new UFL and it was fascinating to see everyone, including The Rock, pretending that the latest incarnation of the XFL wasn't a disaster.

    It was hard to watch. What a phoney. Player 54 my butt. Rock was never that good. All he and Dany want to do is grow the game of football.Tell that to the 8 football organizations that no longer exist after this “Historic Merger”.

    And with the 1st overall pick of Phase 1 of the UFL dispersal draft, Arlington selects QB Lindsay Scott JR. Scott spent 7 years in college (same duration as my high school tenure) with various programs. He will battle Spring legend Luis Perez for the #1 job in Arlington, Texas.

    Mr. Scott is currently on the Neg List of the defending Grey Cup Champion Montreal Alouettes.

Starting QBs who have left include AJ McCarron, Ben Denucci and Alex McGeough (NFL PRs), MBT (CFL), Jordan Ta’amu (FA who is on Hamiltons Neg List) will leave raw rookies to lead teams. I really don’t see quality of football being great in The UFL.

    You really can't say that though. Who ever heard of Crumb or Powell last year? I'm sure we wouldn't be saying they are promising young QB's if they had success in one of those spring leagues. I mock the leagues in general, but not the players that play there. Talent level is comparable to the CFL, just not the stability.
