I was hoping this can happen. I think he can definitely start at SAM LB

I think that will be the plan, unless they move him to half and have one of their American DB's try there. I know they played him there a bit i Hamilton. The issue of course is having a Canadian back up there, but that would ot be an issue if they started 8 Nationals, which I think they have enough depth to do.

Adding a NAT who can start at LB or in the secondary gives us a ton of roster flexibility. Go with three on the o-line, two at receiver and three on defence, with extras available at receiver and RB if needed because of injuries to starters. Adekele is definitely capable of starting at DHB, possibly at SAM, and also gives us a proven safety in case of injury to Metchie.

I love the fact that Argos were (as far as I know) the only team that had few leaks about guys they were negotiating with over the past week. Do business quietly and effectively.

I had a feeling that the Argos would grab Adeleke. I’m with AV on this one, this is a great signing even one that could rival what I think was the best free agent signing of 2023, Adarius Pickett. As was already said, he provides quality, versatility and flexibility.

Fraser Sopik, an excellent STer and backup LB, is a very nice under-the-radar signing. I assume it means Hoyte is moving elsewhere.

Is it just me and my laptop or is anyone else having trouble following the 3DN live free agent tracker due to all the pop ups? For me the page is almost unreadable and definitely not worth the aggravation.

Good signings by the Argos so far. They clearly have a plan and are sticking to it.

Losing AJO for 160k hurts a little more. If he was looking for closer to 200k, I would understand being priced out.

We'll have to see what happens at that position, but we almost certainly won't spend that much on an individual RB. That leaves more money to spend elsewhere. I hate to lose a player as good, and as popular, as Ouellette, but I continue to believe that whomever carries the ball for us this season will be more than adequate. There are still some good FA backs available, and we already have McMahon and Adeboboye. The dropoff from Ouellette to whomever probably will be small enough to make the salary saving worth it.

Adeleke & Sopik are excellent signings IMO; both can play on D - Adeleke versatile and able to play S-OLB or anywhere in the secondary; Sopik can back-up star W-OLB McManis or play LB in some packages and is also a good ST guy. Two veteran Canadian talent guys.

Big H-back A. Awachie signed away from the Riders? - maybe he will be an upgrade over Nichols at the little used spot in the Argo offence or maybe he's a real strong ST guy? Plenty of CFL experience now.

Hope this means the Argos don't waste a precious draft pick on more fullback "depth".

This assumes that Ouellette would have preferred to stay with Toronto as opposed to moving to Saskatchewan.

What a Snooze Fest. The “Tampering Window” announcements over the past week has ruined the start of CFL Free Agency.

They could draft Jean-Antoine Ouellette. But as a comic in all seriousness, Awachie played at U of T, so that may factor in. He could be in tough to make the roster similar to FB Mario Villimazar who was signed from BC last year.

I may be the only one here that doesn't consider him a big loss. RB is the last position I really worry about.

Can easily see the attraction of going to a team in a re-build mode with a coach he knows as new HC, AND in a market where football really matters (as opposed to the joke level of respect the Argos get). Might have gone there anyways for less buck$ than what the Argos could offer.
