If this article is even half true, I expect the CFL to come down on both the Franchise and Kelly.

Not the kind of publicity this team needs at this juncture.

I thought (perhaps wrong) that Chad Kelly was in a relationship and referenced his Toronto based partner when signing his contract and charitable work in the community.

Innocent until proven guilty; I wish the media would remember that when publishing these early claim reports. Two sides to every story and unfortunately it will be days/months before the claims are proven or disproven in court and in the meantime, the damage to the organization and Kelly is done.

IF the allegations are true I do hope that the team and Kelly are handed the appropriate disciplinary action but they both have the right to have their say in court first.

Not the first time the team has had wrongful dismissal lawsuits with female trainers. IIRC something similar happened when Barker took over

According to Westhead's article this all came to a head in the days leading up to the Eastern Final. The accusations and her account of his behavior and team response are not flattering. This may have something to do with Kelly's poor performance on that day.

The whole concussion excuse which took everyone by surprise may have been a red herring on his part. I sure hope none of this is true.

Well innocent until proven guilty, but with Kelly's past I'm not holding out hope. This is what really makes me mad.

I thought an organization led by Pinball would be more accountable. It alleges multiple Argo staff were aware or witnessed the incidents.

Unless these allegations can somehow be proven to be completely false from top to bottom, and quickly, I see no way Kelly plays for the Argos this year. And there's a very good chance other heads will roll as well. This type of stuff simply can't be swept under the carpet, and the statement of claim suggests that's precisely what was attempted. Good luck to the Argos and MLSE. This is one of the ugliest situations this league has ever seen.

That is incorrect, The statement of claim was filed in court, and is a matter of public record. The org that originated the news report, TSN, has chosen as a matter of policy not to identify the accuser without her consent. Most reputable news orgs follow similar policies.

As stated in Westhead's story: "TSN does not publish the names of alleged victims of abuse and harassment without their permission."

The dollar figure is a pittance, and dollar claims in any lawsuit are of zero consequence. How would reporting her name make things better?

So identifying her would change what, precisely?

IF I were an innocent party and was being defamed I would feel entitled to a public examination of my accuser.

What if this is something they'd done before? What if they had a record of past misdeeds?
What if I intended to sue for defamation?

I'm only observing that this trial by media is demonstrably one sided.

I have certainly had that thought also. Things, allegedly, came to a head that week including on the very day of the game.
