To Buffalo Bills. This is devastating, especially after losing Alex Russell earlier this year. Their work has been instrumental in the team's success dating back to 2021. Magri should have been elevated to GM, IMO.

The Argos need to find ways to retain these people. I agree that Magri should have been made GM, with Pinball moving up to a VP position. They really need to look at how the organization is currently structured. It's been unclear of late as to what exactly John Murphy is - is he GM, assistant GM, or a consultant?
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force
I agree Ravi.
I’ve felt all along some Argo employees are slotted a tier down from the jobs they are actually doing as they have a President that seemingly has little to no interest in the team except being front and centre on the podium when they win a Grey Cup.
Pinball-President
Magri-GM
Murphy-Who knows?
You can’t help but wonder if something is off with the organization at this time?
Having said all of this I congratulate Vince Magri on doing a great job with the Argos which afforded him the opportunity to advance to the Buffalo Bills and the NFL.

There should be an NFL window for football operations/coaches to jump to the NFL similar to what the players have to navigate. Good for Magri but right before the season kicks off? How do the Argos recover from this? Do they even bother to replace Magri? Was Alex Russell replaced by anyone?
There is no salary cap on front office. This is unfortunate and unnecessary. MLSE should be doing all they can to keep, mentor, develop talented staff like Magri. They got this all wrong when they failed to install Pinball as President. This structure is really starting to show its flaws now. I sure hope Pelley does the right thing
GO ARGOS!!!
I’m not sure any position title or salary could stop someone going to the NFL. See Nathan Rourke. Unless it’s a stupid amount of money. People dream of this opportunity and obviously want to move up the ladder like Rossetti, Rukavina. Argos seem To do well mentoring young guys on the football ops side of things.

Absolutely. He's young. He's going to have some low level scout role that will take him a long time to climb upward. He could have been a well paid GM here creating a long term program that would outlive him when he finally takes the next step. The shortsighted, myopic planning around this team pisses me off. Nothing long term has been created yet. It is not the model CFL team yet. It's all very fragile. And it doesn't need to be with MLSE calling the shots
GO ARGOS!!!
Goal of all football players nowdays - nothing wrong with that IMO.
If you don't get that some wannabes up here fawn all over the NFL while they mock or dismiss the CFL, then whatever.
The CFL is "The Show" of Canadian football.
I may be mis-informed but i believe the term "The Show" for sports originated with baseball, where some players had a long journey in the minors to make it to MLB = "The Show"; the term has just not the same relevance for football IMO, where there is no long journey in the minors to be had. NFL hero worshippers adopted the term for pro football, seems to me.
As long as there's a part-time president and a part-time general manager, it's hard to imagine long-term success being assured. No doubt Manning means well, and Pinball most assuredly does, but both have other ventures in their portfolios that prevent them from going full-tilt with the Argos. This wasn't a major issue when we had Magri, Russell and, yes, Murphy to do the heavy lifting on the football side of the op. We're now down to just one of those three, and he's under repeated fire from outside the walls.

Amazing how things can change rather quickly, Argo player ops department considered amongst the very best then within a couple of months they lose Russell and Magri and are now bare bones with only Murphy and Pinball.
Not the greatest of off seasons to say the least.

How long will it be before Jim Barker is back for his, what, fifth or sixth stint with the Argonauts? GOB hog heaven to be sure, but I wouldn’t have a big problem with it, he knows his stuff including Canadian talent.
