The Argos' current Global punter is out of Western Kentucky and they have now drafted another punter, this time out of Eastern Kentucky.
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

Argos comment on their Global draft picks below.

    Round 1, Pick 7 – Jeremy Edwards – Eastern Kentucky – Australia

    Round 2, Pick 16 – Denzel Daxon – Illinois – Bahamas

Edwards, 6’5 and 220lbs, attended Eastern Kentucky from 2022-2023, punting 42 times for 1,756 yards (41.8 average) in 11 games in 2023, with a long of 55 and 16 punts pinned inside the 20. In 2022, the Australia native averaged 36.8 yards per punt in 12 games, including a 61-yard boot and 13 punts inside the 20-yard line. Edwards trained at Prokick Australia.

This draft is a farce. It's beyond me how a Bahamas native who has been in the United States and played all his football there over the last 8 years is considered a "Global". Same goes for a player from America Samoa, yet Boris Bede is still considered an American.

Every year it is more apparent the only reason to designate Global players is to reduce the number of Canadians in the league, who can command higher salaries based on their status.

Agreed AV; the Global thing is a way for the mostly Americans running the CFL to get more of their favored American trained guys on rosters. Too bad the "radical" CFL doesn't care much for Canadian talent in the pro league in this country - it should be increased on CFL rosters and stop with the biased, ignorant Bull$hite of ignoring or dismissing Canadian talent at certain positions.

They could have just said we're going to start scouting "Global" players by looking far & wide and promoting football and maybe the CFL a bit - with scouting going on in other countries where they play gridiron football. But almost all the "Globals" who are looked at are just American college trained guys who happen to come from other countries.

Ambrosia is a clown of a Commish - this and other garbage has happened under his watch - he needs to get lost IMO.

If the Global initiative was truly something to expand the game to "true" Global players (say trained and playing in leagues in the country they come from) then I can accept that. But the majority of these global players are coming from the NCAA. To me, that defeats the purpose of this whole initiative.
