Does Rogers own its own division of Toronto Police?

Hate to distract from the euphoria of the win, but I want to point out Rogers Centre really seems to have mastered the art of blurring the line between Private security and Toronto police. Not sure for how long this fascist-style security system has been in effect but it has become so obnoxious to raise the eyebrows of even my unperceptive self. And I will not even go into the bewildering presence of Toronto Police Snipers and SWAT on the sidelines.

Maybe its the fact that after you reach a certain level of corporate wealth in this country, it becomes the taxpayer's responsibility to pay for your security. Or maybe its the fact that we are such a dangerous and criminal bunch that Rogers cannot afford the high costs of keeping us safe, and we need to pay Toronto Police to keep an eye on us for them.

It raises my eyebrows to see a mixed line of RC Security and Toronto Police practically in unison guarding the sidelines at home games. Cops get paid overtime to stand at sporting events, and it's $90/hr from the taxpayers versus $15-20 an hour for Rogers to pay their own security.

There was a non-violent incident today where a few drunkards in their 20s were being obnoxious on the crowd. RC Security was watching the whole thing but did not deem it necessary to intervene. Meanwhile, a police officer signalled for backup and it was the Toronto Police who descended on them, grabbing one by the arm forcefully and arresting them. All RC Security did was escort the police to the seats once the first cop signalled for them to descend.

A few years ago at the pro-CFL rally a few years ago at Bills in Toronto it was Toronto Police, not Rogers Security that prevented us pro-CFLers from entering Rogers Premises under threat of arrest.

My question is when did a segment of Toronto Police start working for Rogers?

I've heard stories of RC Secuirty in the past especially banning the endzone drum guy, if he's still on the forum? I sit in the 200 level and when I go down to the store or like today for the signing they bother me each time I go up the ramp back to 200.

I personally witnessed that incident. While its another separate issue, you are correct, I couldn't believe they banned him. He was non-aggressive, as it was the Ti-Cat fan who challenged and confronted him.

He's been allowed back in the stadium. It was him who got married.

OH man this kind of crap has being going on since day one at Skydome with the Sky Nazi's as we called them. Some A hole from Hamilton flung a loonie at The Argoholics when we all sat in the first row on the 500 level. We looked down to see who it nailed. The Sky Nazi's saw me looking over dressed in my Argoholic gear and before you knew it both cops and Sky Nazi's were trying to toss me out. I hate Rogers and anyone tied in with these nummies.

I'd like to see nothing more than the Argos getting their own football only stadium and the Jays crapping out and flying south to become the Buffalo Jays. Rogers can then F the hell off.

Interesting points about RC Security but my initial post was more about the blurring of the line between RC Security and Toronto Police who are apparently serving as supplements to RC Security, at our expense.

Rogers pays for the police officers at Rogers Centre events, it's called Paid Duty.

$65 an hour that the client is paying for and the police officers are not always doing nothing. They never know what they're going to have to deal with when they put that uniform on.

Looks like I was right when I said Rogers has the police working for them. What a strange program, to say the least.

It was probably created because of people complaining about police officers being paid with tax payers money at things like sporting events.

Paid duty police officers aren't isolated to just the Rogers Centre.

If the Police had a sniper at the game, then he was there for a reason. People have no understanding how many threat's the Rogers centre gets from, your run of the mill nut job, to the fact that the Rogers Centre is one of the Major targets for any Terrorist attack in T.O

Any officer can put in for Paid Duty outside of their regular duties including members of the ETF. I highly doubt the snipers were carrying their sniper rifles with them probably just their standard Glocks.

As far as I recall, there has never been a single attack on Toronto, or Rogers Centre. Has there even been one in Canada at all in the past 20 years? I am talking about an actual terrorist attack.

Time to get back to the reality and stop living through the eyes of CNN and Fox News.

If there were actually terrorists hiding in every closet and under every table, we would know about it by now.

Toronto police do not impress me. Stand them next to a fire fighter or EMS and they look even less impressive. I'll stop there.

What firearms were the ETF snipers carrying at the game on Saturday?

Police Officers always take the crap until they are there to save someone ass. I'm sick of the Police bashing BS everywhere. Most comes from 20 somethings that grewup playing Cop killing video games or wannabee rappers. I say F them all.
